But we South Indians won't accept Hindi as national language. Sanskrit is a better language than Hindi if a national language is to be made.

That is not possible. The day North & South separate, Punjab, Bihar, MP, Rajasthan, J&K, Bengal will all ask for separate country.

@ The Democracy I am not Tamil. But it ia fact that 50% of India cannot or does not want to speak Hindi. So how can Hindi be called a national language ???? Even Hindi is not one of the state language of Bengal, Orissa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, etc.

The sad part is : what will you do when there are so many dumb people in India and they are ready to fight over region and languages? Just notice how many people fighting over north/south, languages/culter etc. When there are so many dumb people in India, it is too easy for enemies to use DIVIDE AND RULE!

Exactly!!Fisrt of all even if he has published it,why should Rediff include it in the website?Also, just observe the tone of Aziz haniffa as he writes "Now a leading American demographer has debunked the hype about India's 'demographic dividend.'.Why Indian Muslim writers are enjoying if anyone tries to prove the theory of India-becoming-super power wrong?Also why does Rediff has most Muslim authors,even for a issue like Yoga ,when there are abundant Hindus writers much more qualified than these authors?I have generally seen that, Muslim authors are always less happy and enthusiastic about Indias growth as Super Power than general Hindu writes!!Websites in India should support the growth and general aspirations of the majority of the people in the country, not supporting these generally anti-India authors!

The reality bites sometimes.. But it better bite now than in 2030 or 2020 or whenever is the deadline for the plans.. sometimes the tone and tenor might be diferent.. See it has got you thinking .. It is best to educate the masses so that the jobs will be taken by Indians themselves than (already happening) lot of foreigners taking up the jobs because of no education to the masses

I am not into a north versus south fight. But i want to open ur eyes and also of some north indians, that we need each other.
Agreed that most executives are southies but the funds and businesses are in the north.

I have already said that the executives who manage businesses are majorly south indians.
But the business acumen and entrepreneurship is in north.
If we live separately then North will starve as they cannot run a business without south indians and the south indians might become slaves of western businesses...and work for them.
The Brits sowed the seeds of didvison on the basis of religion, North South divide, Aryan Invasion. Maculay made the divide stronger by laying the foundation of Indian's English a education to keep the divide perpetual and the Indians bit the bait, line and sinker. The CIA paid some of our leaders in 1964 to burn the fire of language and keep it burning and our great leaders of the South swallowed it keeping the fire of the divide burning. We as fools and slaves follwo our white master bidding in our eagerness to show that we are progressive and advanced. Do the Chinese, the Japs, the Russians, the Germans know English? But see their growth. While we quarrell among ourselves, the West makes hay. Forget the differences and work together to byuild a great nation. We r still underr the white yoke. I agree and it is the only truth. We very proudly strut around and display our knowledge of English which not even 5% of the poulation can understand not to talk about speak and write. look at the Americans, they drove away the Brits, fought a civil war among themselves to keep the country united and today they r the power all bercause they r united. It is a melting pot of many nationalities, language, culture andhabits etc etc but still united and proudly has a black prsident.Division in shat ever form is deadly. Our so called political leaders to perpetuate their hold on the chair divide us. We all know that the minority plank is played for votes. In Assam a minority party was formed some years back and now an ex chief minister of the congrss has joined it.

Westerners can't be blamed for India's problems today. I feel that North-South divide is real and is there to stay. That is what this American author is also saying. Anyway, only time will tell who is correct...

The whites cannot be blamed directly, but if we go deep into anything connected with them, if we read Indian history n go deep into it we shall know. We r all Macaulay's children who wanted people whose thoughts were english but body Indian. He wiped out all that is Indian from the Wnglish educated n that is why we deried whatwver is Indian. V do know nothing about India. V love anything Western and what they say so much so that our so called elites, rich egarely qeued outside the foreign embassies to purchse even their old under garments during the quote raj.
