Caste really exist in India. It is a curse and a blunt face of racism. Surnames should be abolished in India, still the caste will exist. People saying their caste in India are either filthy rich or hypocrites.

Don’t believe in caste or religions which are man made. But love each other as you love yourself. Go through all the religious books and try to find out the True living God. Always speak the truth and try to correct yourself when you are wrong. Help the real needy people. Don’t try to believe God who discriminates then males and females, greedy or war god that is the work of the devil in the name of God but believe a God who loves you just the way he has created you. God is love and He is our Father and we are his children. We are all one. If we do this then the entire world will live in Peace. All Humans are nice but our religions have made us so. So try to find God, the Real Love, The One Who lives forever.

Not only India but wherever Hindus go, Caste caste will follow! So much so that other religions also get corrupted by this.

absolutely, sikhisim was created against caste susyem, but the irony is even that too follows caste system. what a tragedy!! same with Xtians and Muz of India. I think only Buddhism has successfully eliminated this evil

ppl don't understand how embarrising it is when you are travelling to foreign countries and foreigners ask you about casteism and why we still believe in them and so forth. I can't comprehend why do we have to make decisions depending on what caste a person belongs to? unfortunatley, even the educated ppl in India, believe in them as well. Here are a few things to realize: 1. We have a lot of respect for our parents and we don't question their decisions and we accept whatever they say. I am not saying that we should not respect them but that doesnt mean that you should blindly follow what they say. It is due to the fact that we blindly follow, we continue with the age old tradition, even though we are educated. we continue to give preference to studies and excel in 10th and 12th exams by hook or crook. we are told that there is no future if you don't score 99% in your studies. We are given examples of our neighbours as to how better off they are. Most of them blindly follow the decisions, their parents have taken, like a mule.
2. The govt has no plan to revive the system because it is their vote bank. All they have to do is "nothing". We people in this forum may not beleive in caste, but most of them who do believe - very huge number of them, don't use forums.
priority, if given, should be given to economically weak classes and not based on caste. It is common sense.
today It wud have been the world power. Caste is like cancer, cannot be cured so easily as some ppl say like ( we are all indians, no reservation on caste. etc ect). Catse was purposely created to keep the masses illiterate and to keep them opressed so a select few cud enjoy all the rights and privileges. Unfortunately time doesn't remain the same, it changes and it must change. Its becoz od Caste System, Indians were ruled over since they were never united. Why didnt India conquer the world just like British, mughals? the reason is the conquerers in india were busy conquering their own ppl (read lower caste) .
This is totally one sided petition by rediff!why not have another petition to support caste based census.I am sure the petition list will be far more than this one..It seems like this petition has politically motivated agenda

Rediff is just doing their duty of supporting caste system because it directly benefits their class/caste! Do not expect any thing which is even a feeble step towards weakening caste system.
