Social mobility != Economic mobility

What is the official parliamentary procedure to carve out an Independent Nation for 500 million BC community from India?

Modern day evil

Dear All,

One of the reasons for the Mahabharata war was that ability, talent & merit were deprived and caste was given preference. Take the example of the Great Karna. Karna though capable in all respect and more talented then Arjun was not given a fair chance to prove his worth because he was of a lower caste. This led Karna to become the enemy of Pandavas. He hated them, in spite of the fact that he knew that they were his brothers.
This will happen again and again if you divide the society on the basis of caste and deprive merit. Many more Mahabharata wars will be fought just because caste is given importance over talent ability and merit. This division gives the chance for our leaders to divide the society. Just as Duryadhona used the noble Karna against his righteous brothers, so are these leaders ready to use the noble people against each others.
They will continue to divide India and make brothers fight. Only we can stop this by saying no to Caste system.

Thanks & regards
Ankur

the original mahabharat it seems did not contain any caste discriminaton but was added by later interpretation.the main purpose of mahabharat was changeover of yugas.itmight have been hierarchy or some other reasons or perhaps the competition was meant for some section of royalty.what caste would u put for bheeshmas stepmother the daughter of a ferryman.it would be interesting to know how the real original epics of ramayan and mahabharat contained.

Good example.
With reservations all over, starting from the competitive examinations to jobs to allotments of business E.G Petrol pumps,exemption/concessions in fees etc, Indian government is creating a bunch of less intelligent and ineffective administration, which leads to getting high value at less effort attutude, leading to inefficiency, corruption and hard earned money of the non special class Indian going to drain.
Take an example and compare a family of 4 of general category vis a vis special class family. Special class gets 1. Fee concession/exemption 2. Prioroty admission into premier despite lower performance collges/institutes 3. Special quoto for jobs that too at a lower performance vis a vis the boy from general category. 4. Govt subsidies etc and special/priority treatment everywhere.
Just review it. IS IT NOT VIOLATION OF RIGHT TO EQUALITY CONFERRED BY INDIAN CONSTITUTION?

For what reason? Reservations should be only based upon Economical conditions and NOT on caste basis. Giving reservations in any sector is un-justified for performing people. Reservations has blocked the innovation thinking minds. No reservations should be there in private sector. Why dont you go to doctor who has benefited by just being reserved category and not doing well in medicine practice? Just for degree and earning you people need reservations... Shame on you and your thinking...
Where the world is moving in 21st-22nd century, where there would be always fight for survival and where your mentality will lead..

While I agree overall - basic question is WHY THERE SHOULD BE RESERVATION? WHY NOT EQUALITY? LET PERFORMACE SPEAK NOT CASTE.
Even when speaker of assembly was being selected, apart from other qualifications, Ms Meera Kumar being DALIT was a major consideration for selection. WHY WAS THIS ALSO FACTORED?
Such policies are creating inequality. WHO ARE MINORITY NOW? GENERAL CATEGORY IS THE MINORITY!!!!

If census without caste, then why we have Quotas everywhere ??? first remove quotas all over and take census without caste or take census with caste details and provide quota as necessary. Because lots of people are misusing quotas

Quotas should go
by Akash Nair on May 27, 2010 07:50 AM

Before getting all worked up over this issue why dont we start with abolishing caste based quota system? The SC/ST folks wants to take all the freebies and sops that come with their "lower caste" status but take great umbrage when they are reminded of their caste. As long as this reverse discrimination exists there will be no resolution to this problem. Vote bank politics is so deep rooted there is no incentive for the politicians to change anything. The SC/STs of course want to keep the status quo and not kill the goose that lays the golden egg.
