It is highly dangerous to do the caste based census. Specially in India where people are so sensitive that they don't care any human value when time comes and communal parties like VHP, BJP, RSS and SS take them for a ride easily. If caste based census is done, it will make clear the density of caste in any particular area and this is what these communal forces want. We must not support this in india.
In fact there are much more dangerous hazards of this which can create big chaos and people will start feeling insecure and this may create a hatred and unstable society.
I condemn this caste based census and thanks to rediff for raising this issue and providing us the chance to voice against it.

With due respects to your comments, Its not only the parties which you have suggested but the ruling party Congress is at the forefront. If you can recollect, they have introduced caste based reservations in IIM, IIT etc. As for RSS its a swayam sevak sangha. I kindly request you to go to its website, you may find that it supports many orphaned muslim children in the valley. At the end, you are lucky to have your views as the even the country's PM cant think on his own!!!

Hello? Are you from this world? It is blatant abuse of history if you go just one step back. Get back a step further. Who are the inhabitants of Kashmir? Who captured them? Read the moghal invasions and you will know. "Akbar invaded Kashmir in 1588" -- this is a wel-known fact.
Even if you wish to conveniently forget all this and be in the present, what about Kashmiri Pandits? You guys drive them out of their homes and talk about being made slaves? Who are you trying to fool?
Well, there is no point in talking about our rights with guys who have a history of invasions and forceful conversion of a friendly civilization.

Kashmir belongs to india and there is dream chasing about a piece of land being captured. Those who think it's being captured, are welcome to shift to pakistan.Nobody stopping them shifting.u will be happy in pakistan and we will be happy in seeing ur back.good luck for ur journey to pakistan.
Hope India has started this campaign a week back as soon as the parliamentarians had advocated for this caste based census. They forgot census by Britishers in 1921 & 1931 to divide us in various castes. They forgot our constitutions spirit of building casteless society in Independent India. They are again trying to nurture Mandalization, this time aroung the OBCs and they have realized that Indians have started supporting development politics and these so-called corrupt and selfish politicians are feeling insecured in the changing system of neo-politics. hence, they are propogating and backing the conspiracy of caste-based politics to divide all Indians. We appeal to all Indian to mention their caste as "Bhartiya" to let these conspirators realise the strength of Indians. Please do not succumbe to any pressure or temptation of reservation benefit ey al. Be a Bhartiya. Prof. Saurabh Sharma Founder President, Hope India
I am proud that you have started this campaign. But may I request to look around and please take a note of TV CHANNELS. All the TV Channels except very few, the most visible face of media, are propagating all sort of medieval beliefs 24x7. Open any channel from morning to evening you see BAABAS, DHARAMGURUS doing pravachan. Another set is forecasting astrological predictions and spelling doom for non believers. Go a little further all the serials that is soaps are churning day out and day in medieval beliefs, customs and are full of tulsi pooja, ganesh pooja etc. In the name of culture only regressive ideas are being propagated. Serials are glorifying the castes and customs. You can see anchors shouting on various shows the virtue of visiting various mandir and the miracles that can occur. We have got so used to all this in the name of freedom of media that we do not notice how all this rhetoric amplified by an irresponsible media has infected millions of young minds like virus. The call for tradition, preservation of out dated customs, across the land are creating a regressive India and dragging us behind. We do not realise that such voices are only divide us. Unsophisticated viewers and young minds lap up this vision of tradition customs etc without question and a poisonous environment is created. Wake up please.

Reading all the replies has made me sad. I wonder how my comments have suddenly taken a religious turn. Yes, when I have been writting about BAABAS, ASTROLOGERS AND SOAPS/SERIALS I have not mentioned about Islam because on our channels we hardly see any muslim Clerics or Najoomies. ARY and Q channel hardly have soaps/serials. But yes the channels in Pakistan are doing the same what the channels in India are doing that is spread a regressive thinking in the name of culture and custom. I only meant that the Media specially the electronic media must be more active in propogating a progressive view of life.

When in minority, muzzies (ISLAM) speaks of "injustice" and "secularism". When in majority they declare the nation as muzzie country.
NO answer !!!
How many muzzie ruled countries are still "secular". You talk about saudi... It is the financial hub for terrorism.
The word IS_l_am should be wiped out from the world and the people who follow it -- (who ever it is) should be killed on the spot
In America there is no system in place today that forces people to remain separate or keeps one class subservient to another. If you were born the son of a street sweeper, but excelled, you could become a doctor or lawyer or some celebrity or entrepreneur - and at the same time you would be fully accepted by your peers.
Not so in India. The Caste system freezes everyone in place. It is extremely difficult - almost impossible - for someone from the lowest Caste to rise in education and social status.
A Dalit would never be allowed to marry into one of the higher castes and would never be accepted as an equal. And for a Dalit to make it into bollywood, medical school or opening a restaurant or become a priest in a temple or become a member of high society in India is very rare indeed.
You can move from one class to another in America(e.g Obama became President of USA) You must not move from one caste to another in your life time in India(e.g. Ambedkar could not become Prime Minister of India)
Re: And
by JustToHammer on May 15, 2010 08:18 PM
Then you will have to fight for equal opportunities and social justice. Is Mayawati, a Dalit not ruling?. Who can stop her from becoming PM very soon?.
Didn't brahmin marry Ambedkar?. Didn't phule(OBC) protect social attrocities on brahmin women?.
Didn't Karunanidhi(OBC) legalise Dalits to be priests?.
Who are these Narayanana, Balakrishnana, Ambedkar ?. Aren't they dalits , who excelled?.
America too had slavery and racism on negroes and asians too. Till 1956 or 1965, america banned slaveryness, negroes didn't had any legal rights. Now things have changed.
Good education, equal opportunities, social justice should be the aim of people which gives good status to be married by anyone. Just being BC, SC, ST , FC or Minority why would one marry?.
I think we misunderstood the caste census. It is not about more reservation or removing reservation. It about knowing exact no. of caste wise people in India. If we know the exact number, No political parties would be able to do undue politics on caste systems!!!
