The whole problem is arising bcoz mah govt is hell bent on retaining marathi as compulsary subject. otherwise if any 2 subjects can be chosen by students out of 3 ( hindi/sanskrit,marathi,english) there would have been no problem, they would have had 2 languages and 3 core subjects maths, science and social science ( just like CBSE)
Why at all this ICSE Board is allowed in this country which is only burdening the students with studies that they cannot even cope the 'Best of' system seems to be totally biased but, than one needs to have adequate & relevant education. Nice if kids can know more about Raja Ram Mohan Roy & Rani Laxmi Bai rather than William Shakespere.

what in the world makes you feel that ICSE students dont learn about Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Rani laxmibai? Pl dont talk rubbish if you dont know things...

Its been a while since I passed out of an ICSE curriculum (2000) but quite frankly it is really good. We actually had to give 11 papers - almost half a text book on Indian History. And yes, we did study Shakespeare too but we also did study tagore, and several other indian authors. It was a very good curriculum imho.

there r only 8000 ICSE students and 16 lacs SSC students. Therefore a decision should be taken keeping in view the larger interest of the students. In fact in every colleges seats should be reserved in ratio with the no. of passed students in every board. This should be beneficial to all the students fairing well in exams irrespective of the boards.

what a joke!! icse board is the best considering the quality of questions asked(no direct questions, all of them are from "in between the lines") And who says icse students dont study rani laxmibai or for that matter any other freedom fighter or indian artist?

And who decides if the judges are biased or not? You??

The State Board has every right to decide about the education system & which type of education system should get priority. As I said earlier. Kids should know more about Raja Ram Mohan Roy & Rani Laxmi Bai rather than William Shakespere.

anyone can see they are biased. you are blind.
same rules are applied in KN and TN, yet not allowed in MH. In another year, percentile rule was suggested which was a completely fair process of equalization between boards. even that was rejected. that tells me judges are biased.

What makes u think that the state govt can make rules as they wish? The state govt rules/ laws are open to legal scrutiny. India is not an autocracy.

Hindi is our national. I say even though I'm not a speaking person. However, I learnt it. The southies shouln to accept this fact and try to learn it and despise it.
Re: Hindi is not required in Maharashtra
by rupesh patil on Jun 28, 2010 10:04 AM
Precisely, Hindi is not even the National Language of this country as per the Constitution of India. Remember Guj. HC Ruling in Mineral Water bottle case where the complainant had appealed for inclusion of Hindi on the Label & the HC ruled against as Hindi is not the National Language of this country. Just b'coz of some Hindi chauvanist & only two Hindi speaking states U.P. & M.P. The earlier one fm where most political leaders come from. it has been imposed on the whole country. 'Sanskrit' should actually have been our National Language which for reasonss amany.

Rightly said Rupesh. Only Sanskrit qualifies to be the national language of India and not HIndi.

Rupesh, Ur correct. North Indians are thinking only UP can run India.
Hindi totally banned in Tamil Nadu. Anybody is there to object the system?

Wellthought report.I think that the time has come for our country to think over only one examination system for the whole country.Education must not be left for political decisions of states.
Yes this is State level syllabus and conducted by the Board. Moreover the Jr colleges to the Maha Board and Degree collegs to Mumbai Univ.
The CBSE and ICSE have their own syllabus.syllabi and Boards. Why do they intrude into the State set-u at IX std?? In fact they shd have their own colleges and if not play as per the State's rules.
The court is not the place to decide such issues...Look , what it said in the Ambani case.....settle it amongst yourselves and report here.
Whether their marking systems are fair ,lenient or strict is another matter.
I have been transferred from other States 3 times and my chikdren have faced hardships in adjusting to syallbi, languages, people and climate. My children were not admitted to Central Schools in 1986 as my Orgn was not in their approved list.
I did not have the money to go to the courts and my appeals went in vain .
Can anyone give my children a suitable compensation for the hardships they suffered.?""
I do not agree that the best of five is wrong as discrimination can be practised only if it is different amongst students of the same Board. Let us not skew the picture. Here different Boards are involved.
And students last year were informed that there would be best of five principle for SSC this year. They prepared accordingly and by strategy or compulsion scored less in 1 subject. It may not have been the case if the best of five had not been announced.
Re: Best of Five
by Indianatheart on Jun 28, 2010 01:43 PM
my dear no one said it would be best of 7 for icse - You have a personal grouse against people who have been unjust but i am sure you will not vouch for 8000 students who have studied as hard and appeared for 7 subjects not 6. All that is asked for is ket both have best of 5 - whats wrong in this?

the judiciary goes by law and its interpretation. By your logic, if 6 men were to rape 1 woman, the woman should be punished.

HC is right. They had asked MH lawyer whether they will consider Best of 5 for ICSE students. It is MH Govt who are foolishly playing with life of lakhs of students and parents and not learning lessons from slaps of last 3 yeras.
