the judiciary goes by law and its interpretation.
By your logic, if 6 men were to rape 1 woman, the woman should be punished.

HC is right. They had asked MH lawyer whether they will consider Best of 5 for ICSE students. It is MH Govt who are foolishly playing with life of lakhs of students and parents and not learning lessons from slaps of last 3 yeras.

by ramchandra murthy on Jun 25, 2010 09:42 PM  | Hide replies

SHAME ON THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. IT SEEMS THE BOMBAY HIGH COURT HAS FORGOTTEN THAT THIS IS PRAJA TANTRA AND NOT MONEY TANTRA.
THE SSC BOARD HAS 14 LAKH PLUS STUDENTS WHOSE FUTURE IS BEING TAKEN OF A ROYAL RIDE BY 8000 STUDENTS OF A PRIVATE BOARD WITH NO LOCAL STANDII.
WONDER HOW MUCH MONEY WAS PASSED OVER TO THE JUDGES TO PASS THE ORDER IN FAVOUR OF A PRIVATE BOARD .
8000 INFLUENTIAL STUDENTS VS 14 LAKH MIDDLE CLASS STATE BOARD STUDENTS.

each Board has its own advantage & disadvantage
by ashish roy on Jun 25, 2010 09:42 PM  | Hide replies

To be very frank the amount of knowledge imparted in SSC is way too less. True they have 3 languages but CBSE and ICSE also offers a host of other language to choose from.

ICSE english, physics, chemistry and Social Science are a lot tougher than any other board. Similarly for CBSE mathematics is quite tough. Students from Bihar and WB board have maths on a whole new plane.

Vocational Subjects in HSC ( Maharashtra state board 12th) are far more advanced and tougher than any board in India.

Students of Bihar Board and WB board and perhaps even UP board are strictest in terms of awarding marks.

CBSE is relatively linient while SSC and ICSE are the most relaxed when it comes to awarding marks.

However scoring in ICSE become highly tough due to no. of papers that a student has to appear.

For eg: A typical ICSE student with Science and Computer/economics has to appear in 12 papers each of 100 marks. ( 20 marks practical in almost all papers)

English ( 2 papers)
a). Language ( 2 essays, 1 letter and 1 comprehension, 20 marks grammar) -80 marks
Comprehension passage is above CAT/GRE/GMAT standard.

B) Literature ( 3 books including a play of shakespeare original text.)

2 Second Language ( mostly Hindi ) 1 paper - 3 books with passages from writers like Mahadevi verma & Jai Shankar Prasad

3. Science ( 3 papers) 80 marks each
a) Physics
B)chemistry
c) biology

The syllabus is much tougher and exhaustive than any other board.

CONTINUED...

4. Social Science (2 papers ) 80 marks each

a) History extremely detailed and vast- no other boards matches it.
b) .Geography relatively easier but includes topography.

5) Mathematics - 1 paper 80 marks
Way below Bihar and WB board, easier than CBSE but defiantely tougher than SSC

6.Computer/ Economics - 1 paper
Computer students start with basic Java programming.
economics have fundamental principles explained in detail

7. Environmental studies - Added in recent years no information ( 1 paper)

That makes it 11 papers which itself negates the linient scoring mechanism.

Note: Mark Sheet of ICSE student always mentions the marks in subjects in percentage.

ICSE IS A PRIVATE BOARD
by ramchandra murthy on Jun 25, 2010 09:38 PM  | Hide replies

Being a concerned parent , I wish to bring to the notice of all people on this forum that the ICSE board is a private run board with no loacla standii. All along we get to hear from ICSE parents that their system is the best and blah blah . The once their ward comes to class XI their system seems to be bad. What a contradiction that they exhibit.
Next , nearly all Junior colleges in Maha are under the State board and also garnts from the Maha govt as far as salaries are concerned and also grand in aid.
The SSC students merely move to their same state board so whats the problem then.
Why do ICSE students not join their own ICSC which is far superior than SSC/HSC boards.
Wonder what MR Kadam was doing in the HC when a lesser known rafiq dada was presenting the case.

Mr. Ramchandra Murthy 3 reasons:

1. That is because even a marathi student who has done his 2 and 10th from ICSE board is treated as an outsider and Loses the reservationin engg or medical courses.

2. The CBSE 2 system is more suited to competitve examinations like IIT JEE & PMT and none of the states give preference to ICSE students.

3. Reading and understanding shakespeare and poetry takes time and lot of effort especially if his plays are prescribed to be read in 16th century english. An engineering or Medical aspirant feels he can use his time & energy to focus on science subject wich itself are very demanding

ICSE/CBSE schools are outsiders and they have nothing do with maha culture, language, etc.

if ICSE/CBSE not happy with maha edcuation policies they should leave maha and go wherever they want and those outsiders wants ICSE/CBSE shools, even they can leave maha and go anywhere they want.

Reading and understanding shakespeare inst this a sheer waste of times, I doubt even if the queen of England would have read or mastered these 15 century books which are obsolete in the 21st century.
