This is stupidity to oppose caste system when we ourselves practise it.If some one wants to oppose it he should first shun it and then oppose otherwise he can be best described as Hippocrate.
As I know the matter is still under political cosiderations. But how, I wonder, on the other day a lady came to my house for the job. I protested strongly and told "I have no caste, no creed, no religion. I am a human being. Please record the same". She expressed " U r the first person to say so, we have no column for such comments". I urge one and all must enforce that line of thinking, through,'rediffmail news desks. guha.

Not possible. That is not government or private sector created entity to remove.
People are divided based on income, caste, religion, color, and various others. Homogeneous society will never be possible.
Fight for only equal opportunites and social justice if caste is scaring you. If indians abroad feel, there color is being used to identify them as asians, do you want all people do plastic surgery like Micheal Jackson to look alike.
Did that help Micheal Jackson in coming out of any racism attacks?.
Let us not leave a fragmented India for posterity - fragment on lines of caste, religion, regionalism... Unfortunately under our Parliamentarian system we bring to power these devisive politicians who are there for personal gains only. Change to Presidential form of governance to make these politicians redundant.

Accept the diversity of cultures and plurality to survive. What Presidential form of governance inspired by US you are taking of, there Obama is also accepted as President.
Obama didn't fight to remove black and white colors. Instead they reached that top slot due to education, civil rights movements, equal opportunites and social justice movements only.
In 1931 Caste based census was discontinued in India. Our constitution also says no discrimination on caste, creed, religion, language, etc.etc. But the selfish politians of today who think only about ways to catch votes are dividing our country on the lines of caste, creed and religion. In any other country, they would have been behind bars for creating civil disharmony (remember Mandal times in 1991). In this country everything is tolerated. If these politians are really interested in upliftment of the backward and poor, why dont they give free education and food to the needy? In this country, chief minister of state is becoming richer by 30 crores in three years where as an and an ordinary man cannot think of saving 30 lakhs during his lifetime. Jai Hind.

When there is caste/religion based discrimination in privates, how do u say that caste based census should be discontinued
Re: CASTE THE CURSE OF INDIA

Constitution says there should be any discrimination based on caste , creed, religion nor language. It didn't see, caste is absurd and should not be allowed to exist.
Caste is a reality , no way to avoid nor reject it. If you do not like, dont use tags Menon. Simply use Indian as a tag to be discrimiated as Indian or Asian outside Indian continent.
A new law has to be passed to denotify the surnames. one way identityfying casteism is through surnames. Those who have caste surnames should be punished

You are a coward , incompetent and doesn't have a courage to fight for equal opportunites nor social justice. Do not cry others are prospering. Instead fight if someone is oppressing you for their properity.
There should not be any mention of Caste in Census report as well the Elector Roll also should not show the caste. This way only the caste based politics may be stopped. Caste otherwise for rituals & family matters will definitely continue within the religions but not for the National Political matters/gains.

Caste is a reality. When people are following it, government(democratic) has to accept the peoples beliefs and traditions.
Caste will exist and will have to be included in census to...
