Career in a Private Company is always Dangerous
by RSS on Sep 03, 2015 11:50 PM

The Employer or HR or Boss or Colleague can conspire against us and get us out of the organization quite easily.

There is No Job security and we will be like Sitting Ducks under their rule.

Education if made compulsory must also make Employment compulsory and Salary as per Current Market rates also compulsory.

It cannot be Employer Winning always and Employees Losing on the other end always. There should be an Equal set of Rules and both must have ethics to fulfill for a Favourable result.

If Employer gets these type of One sided privileges, then they can blacklist anyone whom they don't like.

I fully agree with the last line that one loose his dignity as a professional and an individual although he may have done it because of situation without any intention

Be Practical
by abc_xyz abc_xyz on Jan 13, 2011 12:46 PM  | Hide replies

I do not know about other sectors, but as far as consulting sector is concerned, its all rubbish on what they mentioned above.

At the client premises, you just have to perform one thing "client satisfaction". So long, the client gives a good feedback about you, and you continue to be the revenue generator for your company, you will not be troubled for anything...it is during the bench hours, when you become a liablitiy to the company and they look for small mistakes that you commit, to avoid promotion, salary hike etc etc in the name of cost cutting...

Also gone are the days, when companies would hire you based on the talent, qualification, personality and communication skills and then GROOM you. There is no concept of 'quality training' imparted to the newcomers and on the other side, there is no loyalty factor with the employees either ...Companies dont train you enough fearing they would loose employees who move to greener pastures and employees themselves don't give a damn while shifting companies for better packages.

Hence to succeed in IT field, here are some practical suggestions ...
1. Stick to one technology. Love you job, but not the company.
2. Try to be honest as far as possible with your resume, but if situation demands, that you are not going to get into the right areas that you deserve, fake intelligently. (Remember companies anways fake your resume before sending you to the client place, hence there is no guilty feeling

3. Try to take up challenging job, even if you have no idea about it, as fear factor is important to success and you will be more focussed than ever.
4. Observe market trends and know your worth for the skillset that you gain, jump at anything that offers you better life (be it personal, professional or anything) ..dont even think for a second about your loyalty factor ...the same company might throw you out during recession, when they do cost cutting..
5. Once you are settled with family kids in mid thirties, thisis the time to stick to some permanent place even if that doesn't interest you , for the sake of family life.

What about the deserving employees?
by rajkamal gupta on Jan 11, 2011 04:43 PM  | Hide replies

But one thing the author has missed out. What about timely increment of salary and promotion?.If the management things all things are important except these then what option the employees have in their hand...The employees would keep on justifying the reporting authority though management may be cognigant of the fact that the employeee has been performing and yet the reporting authority may forget the promotion thing.....

Notice period Uniformity
by Suresh K on Dec 26, 2010 11:43 PM

In India,Most of the laws are Employer Friendly,Companies can make 2 months notice period,3 months etc..But it is very difficult to get an offer & waiting to join for 3 months or even 2 months..Government should bring the law making the Notice period as 1 month which is Reasonable from both Employee & Employer side. How can a person keep the offer for 2 or 3 months after resigning from the current company.

That Tamils only recruit other Tamilians, just look around you and you can see examples. Forming groups, speaking in code language.

Please dont single out Tamils. It happens in every state in India. And politicians have an interest in this when no people like Chidambaram and the Thackerays look at Indians as foreigners within the country.

hey it is very easy to comment but coming to the practical world no one does it intentionally but it happens. Like "blood identifying its own blood". there is always a soft corner for same culture. This is whats happening in work culturealso we term it as "politics within the organization"
