Across the globe Our Indians are doing jobs. Slowly Somekind of jelosy is developing against Our Indian for the local people. Hoping this kind jolocy is leeding to develop this kind of incidents. First of all parents should think about their chidren education in our country. IAM STRONGLY BELIEVING OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM IS BETTER THAN others. Otherwise our institutions develop it up to international standards. e5dhr

First we must know why some are attacked not all?
Students are after all student be it in India or any other country they attack and fight. You can't clap with one palm so find out the fault and do not be too emotional.Probably Indians donot try to live as it should be in a foreign land as a result of which they get beating and thrashing.

Avoiding racial attacks

HI, I am living in Australia for many years. This is just to inform our readers about how the Indian student community equip themselves to live in Australia .

Most of the Students prefer to stay in very bad suburbs because they are cheap. some of those suburbs have got few drug addicts and other bad elements. It is preferred to stay in decent suburbs. Most importantly not to speak in Loud voice in their local languages, not to exhibit their wealth such as jewelery, laptops, cameras, mobile etc. It is better to avoid travel late nights, visiting bars and pubs.

It is not cheap to get education in Australia, it will cost any where between 10 lakhs to twenty five lakhs just for fee alone. By spending so much money and the effort one can get better education in India itself. Most of the parents should not have the false prestige of educating their children overseas . If at all they want to study here, they should equip them selves and try to understand local culture, make local friends and not to speak loudly which is considered as offensive here in Australia.

Many students come here with out even basic English to study here. Even they can buy a second hand car for about $1,500 , which are not very expensive compared to their fee of around $25,000 to 50,000 depending on the course. Avoid late night travel by train or alone. Try to be in groups of six or eight and be watchful for the bad elements. Good Luck

hi schnoider...few years back too there was almost no incident reported like these attacks...so just don't compare what was before and what is now...everything is fine like trying to remain safe, buying car etc. and definitely not to provoke others. However, these wrong teenagers/hooligans are generally under the influence of substance and too 'high' when they do these violent acts...so if you are attacked.....save yourself...even if it means to temporarily immobilizing the attacker. Then notify the police...they'll take proper action

well the aussies have HUGE EGO's !!! The best thing to do is make aussie frnds. Also never show any kind of agression towards them; just do your own work. Pretend that you feel they are more superior. Avoid unnessary debates or arguements.

Racism Down Under

Instead of blaming your fellow Indians, please put the entire blame on the Indian Government. If the Indian Govt. has any consideration for its citizens, it should act swiftly and strongly and convey to the Australian Govt. in no uncertain terms about the need for the Aus. Govt. to act immediately and nip such activities in the bud.
Alas! We can only hope and wait.

Why should the Indian government get involved unless necessary? After all the Prime Minister did not beg these students to go to Australia.

I had been to the US to work. I lived there safely.

These kind of attacks can even happen in India.

Imagine a group of Southern-native students studying in Delhi getting beaten up by some Northern-native students???

Haven't we seen that?

Aren't non-Assamese being killed in Assam for speaking other than Assamese language?

Has Indian government done anything to protect Indians in India?
