I got ragged in my college days. During one of the sessions a group of seniors took me to the terrace and made me perform orals on the them. That was my initiation rite of passage from boy to manhood. I still feel incomplete and I long for more.
WE were a group of new students & had very early decided not to be ragged. When seniors called us for ragging,we refused, they got angry & violent, but our group was together all the time & bashed them up. We also got outsiders to bash the seniors as we were localites & some of us were quite political. That year it was the other way round. We juniors ragged our seniors. Seniors did not dare to come in front of us.
Ragging is itself very unpleasant & speaks of sad events which are very bad in law. It must be stopped once for all. Let all the college Principals & Head of institutions be directed by the State Govt. to shoulder the responsibilities to contain it and if any body is found indulging into it, must be rusticated from their institutions and criminal cases be filed against them for severe action.Unless, they are strict in true sense, rigging can't be checked & stopped once for all as it is a very serious menace for fresher joining the institutions. No doubt, all head of institutions should organize an assembly in their premises for an introductory session where fresher are introduced to their seniors and vice-versa that may lead to a very healthy trend of maintaining most cordial relations amongst them. No doubt, institutions are basically meant for grooming students by imparting education so that when they pass out, they could prove their worth and can be the most responsible citizen of our country. Our Apex court is very serious to contain this menace once for all. Let us hope that the order of our apex court will be carried out by all concerned with all sincerity at their command!

Yea the story is real I'm from the same college and gaurav is senior to me.I have been ragged but to a lesser extent. gaurav was my senior and yes Jammu seniors have have a weird definition of fun. but i enjoyed it as i never tok it personally. yes ragging is bad everyone is not gaurav minded and should be banned.
So this Gaurav Khajuria was made to do 2000 sit-ups everyday, sit all night like a Sadhu and climb a tree naked all night with an errection. And he thinks it was fun and he misses it. Is it just me or there are others who think this guy is sick? Maybe Gaurav likes visiting massage parlours and red light areas too but that doesn't mean everyone shares his idead of 'fun' It's 'fun' ragging like this which leads to kids commiting suicide. IT NEEDS TO BE BANNED NOW.
When in FY BE most of my batchmates were ragged and then we formed our FY group comprising of 50 students of all faculties. One fine day outside our college we planned and executed - A big TIT for TAT. Those who we boxed and kicked were restigated in ragging and we were let free with all seniors fearing us till date. Not Joking

That is perhaps the only solution.No rulewill serve better than this.It is also not very tough.The first year students can come on the same platform due to the comman fear factor.
