I got ragged in my college days. During one of the sessions a group of seniors took me to the terrace and made me perform orals on the them. That was my initiation rite of passage from boy to manhood. I still feel incomplete and I long for more. Still single and in my L8 30s and the incident gives me wet dreams.

It is dehumanizing aping of hazing that perhaps colleges a century ago transplanted from UK sand its other traditions. We have perhaps , added our own feudal perversities to its obnoxious caricature, now. the unfortunate incidents do our weigh the marginal professional contacts in halls of residences of professional colleges at present. This must be supervised by strict Faculty members and Sadists should be given life-time criminal sentences to act as exemplary consequences of their neurotic behaviours.D. Goel
Ragging should be treated as a criminal offence,non-bailable and punishable with a severe jail term. This should be deterrent enough to stop people from ragging. If it results in death, perpetrators should be hanged. Fine also should be levied on the parents of the students who indulge in ragging others. Minimum fine, Rs. 10 lakhs. Then only this menace will end.
I heard somebody mentioning that ragging makes one strong. Why don't you conclude that Pakistan is only ragging India thereby helping to make India stronger.
There were days when ragging was like a dreaded disease in all colleges in india....Sure it does exist in some colleges in india in this present day but still its nothing compared to what it was in 80's and 90's...I have heard horror stories from my uncle about ragging.I feel ragging will only make india a third world country rather than a developed country.....The earlier it is completely routed out the better for the nation...I feel somebody involved in ragging should be jailed for 10 years....but the problem lot of elements in our country will use this for their advantage due to legal loopholes
When we came to second year engineering we felt we ( group of 3-4) had become seniors, we had played around nicely to get ragging avoided in our 1st year like making friend with our seniors (kannada film actor Ramesh Aravind was 2-3 years senior to us we used to play nice cricket in good old days of 1986-89).
On the first day of our college we thought we must catch some juniors & rag them ( our ragging is to be simple & no physical or mental assault only few Q&A, drama , skit etc), we caught hold of a Gandhi boy named chandrashekar and had a very nice time with him for more than 30 mins.
After skipping two period we went to the third period to have a shock to see that chandrashekar was from our class itself.
Somebody mentioned that ragging makes one stronger. Many people support the same. On the basis of ragging events, ( instead of seniors to juniors ) why do you not conclude that Pakistan is only ragging India ? They are trying to make India strong.
