typical tourists these days are nasty. and they are not the illiterate ones! they are our own very well heeled, very literate and mostly software engineers/ MNC managers/ BPO & call center staff - very well educated, and money to spend. (yeah, recession not withstanding, they still are spending, the ones who have a job of course).
bulk of the problem is what people used to blame the vilagers earlier: - littering wildlife parks, discarding plastic and beer bottles all over the place. smashing beer bottles in remote locations. - loud music, drunken reverly, campfire in sensitive jungles. - boorish behaviour, ready to throw money at anything and having thier way - thus the local tour operators dont care for anyone else who's paying good money too.
i hope this breed of irresponsible people show a little more maturity.

it is good learn you have sensible thoughts. But you will also have to build courage to put some brakes on to such behavior of others. You will have to object immediately. These rowdy behavior is common till it is reprimanded.Situation will guide you to use the appropriate approach.

yeah. to be honest i'm one of that same category (software engineers/ MNC managers/ BPO & call center staff ). but i dont pollute, or disturb the wildlife, and i try and educate others too about the same. its an exercise that has to be followed by everyone.
I'm ashamed to note that the same brothers follow strict discipline when they travel abroad! they have hefty fines for littering and generally the palce is already clean - so people dont litter. its so simple to follow.
the worst thing that i had seen was people smashing beer bottles near waterfalls. the most dangerous place to throw bottles! the skin would be wet and soft. and mostly these waterfalls are in the interiors - if someone gets a bad cut, there are good chances of him being seriously injured and blood loss for certain.
i wish our educated friends behave and be more throughtful about others.

I am a native of Tamilnadu. I also had the opportunity visit all these places in the year 1990 with my family, and later a couple times during 2002 and 2003 when I worked in Mysore. These are excellent places one should visit and enjoy. Madikeri is also famous for coffee and oranges. For all my friends I recommend these places for either for honeymoon or for any family trip to relax and enjoy life.

each state has its own beauty. kerala & tamil nadu have thier tourism department thats very well organised. karnataka to a lesser extent like AP. but the best part is that there's so much diversity. temples, natural wonders, forests, bird sanctuaries, etc etc.
if properly taken care of and appropriately projected we are as good a destination for tourism like the most popular ones!
