I had been to madikeri and belive me its an awesome place to visit. I had been there with my friend and we had enjoyed that place in single day only. We had visited Golden Temple at Kushal Nagar, Abbey Falls, Coffee Garden in Madikeri, Tala Cavery, Omkareshwar Temple, Musical Fountain at Raja Seat. We had started in night from bangalore and return and returned back from madikeri on next night. The Trip was really unforgettable....
while it is a good place, i had a an irritating and funny exp.In the hotel ( Rajhans) where we were staying recently, at the bar cum restaurant , we ordered sweet lime soda and when we asked for ice, can you imagine the answer we got ? The waiter said that they give ice only to people ordering hard liquor as ice is in short supply !!!! And this is a tourist resort!! The waiters are very rude .Another irritating thing is that most raod signs are in kannada only.
In 2006 we had a family holiday at madikeri.my siblings my father and all our families. We stayed at club mahindra .A great place to explore and also spend quality time with ur loved ones.My sister from US also enjoyed the trip a lot.

absolutely. one need not burn money to have fun. there are good places for the well heeled, but you can have fun on any kind of a budget.
just a trek around madikeri/ coorg will reveal what a cool place it is! people dont always want to visit places. for unwinding from the busy towns - one can visit any of the homestays and go to the nearby jungles for a trek. just make sure you take a local guide along, and i'm sure people will have a great time! mingle with the locals, check out the local cuisine, coorgi people are great sport!
What a coincidence. Just returned from Madikeri and Coorg from a week long vacation with the family. Boy ! it is fantastic place. I stayed at Heritage Resort and what a fantastic property it is. Just loved the place, climate, greenery and ofcourse food and hospitality.
Some other spots in n around madikeri left out by the author.. Iruppu falls (80 km from Madikeri) Harangi dam (between Madikeri and Mysore) Abbi falls (12 kms from Madikeri) Omkareshwar temple (built in 17th century in Madikeri)
