CENTRALISED SYLLABI FOR 10TH TO 12TH
by VIJAY PARANJI on Jul 12, 2009 10:11 AM

why each state should have different syllabus for the same subject-- the newto's law cannot change from state to stare == so why confuse the people telling them that CBSC IS SUPERIOR OR SOME STATE BOARD IS GREAT etc -- these are to only to hoodwink people.

when people change jobs in private sector and the banks they undergo hell -- many of them are forced to leave the family and live alone to prevent the child from sufferring the new school-- getting admission is another hellish experience.

the best remedy is that the central goverment shoud have a SINGLE ALL INDIA SYLLABUS FOR ALL SCIENSE ,COMMERCE AND ECOMOMICS UPTO 12TH STD. THE CHILD SHOULD BE ABLE TO WALK INTO ANY SCHOOL ANYWHER INDIA WITHOUT THE SYLLABUS BEAR-BUG.
THIS IS POSSIBLE BECAUSE AFTER 10TH THE CHILD CAN BE OFFERRED THREE STREAMS - SCIENCE -COMMERCE AND DEFENCE STUDIES (THESE PEOPLE MUST BE SCREANED AND MUST BE OFFERED A FULL COURSE LEADING TO ARMEDFORCE CAREERS)

I HOPE KAPIL SIBAL'S MOVES WILL HELP THE FORTHCOMING SIBLINGS.

THE STATE GOVERMENTS CAN HAVE THEIR SYLLABUS ONLY FOR THE LOCAL LANGUGAE.
EVEN THE COMPULSORY LEARNING OF LOCAL LANAGUAGE MUST BE ABOLISHED AS IT IS UN-CONTITUNTIONAL . TOMORROW THEY WILL FORCE TO LEARN RELIGOUS SCRIPTURES ???

so CENTRALISE -- MAKE THE SYLLABUS UNIFORM -- ABOLISH FUNNY RULES AND PRACTICES AND THE CHILD WILL TAKE INDIA TO THE STARS.

Class X board exam
by anuradha on Jul 12, 2009 09:58 AM

i fully agree with Mr. Kapil Sibal reg. X class board exams. they need to be scrapped. the hyped marks do no good to the students nor to the institutions. very unrealistic. secondly the compartment and failure categories make it impossible for children to tide over the depression.
Kapil Sibal should consider revamping the exam system altogether.
1.here are some ideas i would like to share.
all classes should have final exams twice a year. once in march and once in november.
2. Failure should be subject wise and not class-wise.
3. if a child say, fails in Maths he/she should sit in the previous class for maths alone and for other subjects in the next class.
4. In november the child appears for the annual exam and if he/she clears she moves to the next level and manages to clear along with the class in march she moves on without any loss of time/money.
5. at the 10th level the exam pattern should be uniform around the country and correction of papers to be done by the same teachers, maybe, under the supervision of headmaters from opther schools. only the headmasters move to other schools which would save the education board alot of paperwork/other arrangement difficulties etc.
6. at the 12th level yes, the board exam pattern should continue until the credibility of the new pattern is established.
7. a 13th grade should be introduced for students who need more time to complete their 12th papers.
8. here they prepare only for those papers which they hadn't fin

competency.
by rajaram ram on Jul 12, 2009 09:04 AM

it is our competency which keeps us ahead of others and which differentiates us from others in foreign countries(and indians in an international mix of professionals). Class X exams are first level of competent exam. If we do away with those, students will find really hard to cope up with class XII and professional courses. And centralisation definitely needs to be done..

I totally agree with the centralisation of syllabus. this will remove differences between people of same age studying in state board, central board or the ICSE or the Matriculation. This should be the first thing that needs to be done by the government.

I dont agree with the scrapping of exams. If all are given grades, it will be difficult to have visible differentiation between the candidates.

Exams are not draining. Reduce the syllabus, reframe the syllabus so that it is not tiring for a person to read. that is better rather than scrapping. I believe hefty syllabus alone cause problems for exam fear.

why can try this before scrapping the exams?

"Centralize the syllabus". That's the core problem which should be addressed first. The different kind of Borads like CBSE, ICSE etc are inocnsistent for any common approach proposed to be adopted. hence, first things first....scarping exams can follow once things fall in line. It too yearly to scrap Board exams.

In support of Centralised Syllabus !
by kuldeep bhartiya on Jul 12, 2009 08:33 AM  | Hide replies

Well ! a lot of my friends in this forum r dis-agreeing.
Since, India is a secular country, there should be a centralised syllabus without compromising the regional pride and dignity.
A lot of question r being asked here why would a southie people learn abt northern history and same with west-east.Each of us r proud of belonging to our respected region. That's true and acceptable.
But friends at least we can study maths, science & other technological/commercial,arts,etc. These subjects had nothing much to do with our regional diversities but globally accepted too.
Plz, do not discrimiate the Gandhi,Nehru,Bose,Azad,Bhagat,Vallabhbhai,Tilak & all other greats from every corner who share the pride of our nation. They all r one for us, so nothing harm would be done to us or our dignity if we praise them as a part of our history.
To maintain & promote our regional culture, each state government must introduce a 5-6 yrs
regional study as a part of our history. Now this should be a grade subject, nothing to do with pass/fail, so no one would challenge it but silently study to improve it's grade and thus language promotion obtained. In my opinion, it would be best between 5-10 class.

Funny part of this !
If u don't wanna 2 become an archeologist then listen folks, we can't change history but learn from our mistakes and experience. It's good to know abt one's history but it's better to be prepared for future. So concentrate on other subjects science/commerce/arts/technology,etc.

The solution to the growing problems of a diverse Indian population with competitive and harsh educational system at school is to LEGALIZE Home Schooling Education System in India, just like in the US.

India is a federal country
by Malu Boi on Jul 12, 2009 02:31 AM  | Hide replies

India is a federal country. If we try to centralize everything, surely India will break up. Currently when we learn history, we emphasize both national and regional history. If we centralize then we will only learn national history which is not really national but rather history important to north indians.

you are highly mistaken my friend, nehru, Gandhi, bhagat singh, bose, tantiya tope, etc were all national heros and fought for one nation..why do you want to divide the nation into regions..centralization donot mean northen influence, you seem to be living under a complex.
