I think most of Rediff employees started using Social networking sites as most of articles are highly useless.

Please grow up rediff... When in time of recession employees are exhaustively exploited by employer...it is the time when ppl are giving 200% of their own capability...u r printing such a useless article

Why do not you take up the issue when boss asks a worker to work more ( beyond the normal timings )and pays nothing in return ? Have you taken up the issue which skill set should be paid what amount? what about the exploitation in the companies?

I don't think there is anything wrong in copying as long as the original author allow to do it so. Infact it is better, that some people who don't get to read the original one will have the chance if they don't have access to the original content.

Why we should be having the problem with that. Or is it just that we take pride in putting the people down?

The writer should get paid for the reprint. Or else rediff will take stuff for free.

It is difficult to arrive at a direct correlation between time spent on social networking and productivity. What are the precautions taken to exclude influencing factors as extraneous causes; familial influences; physical condition of the individual; individual's own basal metabolic rate; stress factors etc., etc. At best, it can point to a relation between social networking on net in office and work performance - positive or negative; significant or insignificant; good or bad; requires in depth studies considering several key influencing factors.

Sweeping remarks or unilateral observation dosnt suffice
by M on Dec 23, 2009 11:12 AM

Sweeping remarks or unilateral observation does not fit the bill in this case.

Lots of people take and exchange info related to work and knowledge enhancements or work related info exchanges and many value added tasks too.
This kind of observation is just too DESI in flavor and more of a BERAUCRATIC nature.

No effect to productivity
by ramesh on Dec 23, 2009 11:11 AM

Corporate field is something different from others. It wont have fixed timings like 8 hrs per day of work hours. We could even work 12 hours a day based on requirement. If there is any urgent/planned project delivery are there, we don't concentrate on these network sites. In another way with lots of pressure and stress in the work these sites will be helpful for mind refreshment. So thsese sites never be effect the productivity until we adict to them.

Value addition
by satish hukkeri on Dec 23, 2009 11:03 AM

Any business and role, the time spent on this activity (using s/n/w sites) is always goind to add value. so productivity will not be decreased.Yes, the results could be produced at different times - some time earlier than expected or sometimes later. And it should be a call from the organisations front to put processes and priorities on working hours.
