A detailed and substantial work cannot be finished in 33 pages
by Superman on Aug 31, 2009 12:24 PM  | Hide replies

This fellow is better than other boys of his age....But anybody who is related to the academic field knows, any substantial work can never be written in 33 pages....It is not any geius who can write in 33 pages...More great genius, more detailed would be his/her analysis...more pages the thesis would be....

If after 6 years of research, one writes 33 pages of thesis, it is bound to think, the University might have compromised in the quality of the thesis....

His thesis may be valid, but it is not something remarkable....Otherwise, he would not get a fellowship only from University of Waterloo, he would have got it from MIT or Princeton.....

University of Waterloo is a good technological University...but not at the same level where Dr. Richard feynmann or Dr. John Nash got employment.....

Most of universities in UK ask for 10,000 words on your research work as part of your PhD requirement. With that scale I think Dr. Tulsi has done fairly good work.

That is the minimum limit, man!!!!!

not the maximum limit!!!

Most UK PhDs in science are bogus!!! Still they mention, 10000 words minimum for commentary.....

A detailed work can not be written in 33 pages....

Whatever work Tulsi has done, I am not arguing. IISc profs. are better placed to understand that....

But, from my experience, I am definite, a quality PhD thesis cannot be written in 33 pages if you have done some good experimental work...

there are many Phd s roaming here and there and their prof. were lenient enough to roam them like this....

The big thesis only exists in India. I know of people whose thesis are 300 to 400 pages thick, When interacting with them they speak utter nonsence. It is a habit in india to copy and past from many journals to increase the pages in theis and in the pretext of explaning the fundamentals. A thesis is not a book to carry detailed explanation. A thesis has to carry the noval work done by the candidate, with references to other journals and thesis cited at the relavant places and at the back for a better understanding of the work. Do u know the thesis length of Heisenberg one of the fathers of quantum mechanics, it was 56 pages. Time will tell about this guy, Give him a chance, if he is genuine he will excell in life otherwise he will have to settle with the laurals of young age achievement. I hope he has a systematic approach in problem solving, which is very crucial in scientific research. All the best thatagat.

there are a few people who worship everybody around....because they are "nothing" in themselves.....

Doing a genius research does not mean a person has the genius to write it in such short length....

A Phd in Quantum computing requires detailed discussions if it is needed to be a good one....

After 6 years somebody stayed in a campus and did something new, the prof. is bound to award him a PhD...

But the quality is a far cry....Even IISc may not also assure it....There are also plenty of bogus PhDs come out from Berkeley, cambridge and MITs...

not the majority....but there are cases....

FYI, John Nash's thesis was also about 30 pages long, so you would be wrong to equate dissertation length with brilliance and/or compromising of standards by IISC.

A "formula" does not occupy even a single line,... pages are too lengthy. ....A product with monopoly may never be explained, too. the people who examined the thesis are believed to be qualified.
We are surely to feel proud of such a legend.

The experiment Kid
by dhinchak on Aug 31, 2009 12:22 PM  | Hide replies

If my memory serves me right, this guy is the result of an experiment carried by his dad.

legend has it that his dad is an astrologer and he boasted to his friends that kids could be tailor made, i.e under certain circumstances you could know in advance the characteristics of your child.

he was mocked at, and to prove what he theorised, he wanted a woman with certain genetic and astrological coordinates. for that he went to some tribal people of Orissa ( coulc be MP as well), then based on the charts, selected his wife.

the trouble was that she was a non vegetarian, so he had to convince her to stop eating meat.

their first child was normal, but the birth of Tathagat was planned, i mean planetary aspects were considered when plannig for him.

His father predicted to his friends that this child would be a genius.

He has been proved right.
