TN temples mismanaged by the state govt
by glamdring on Feb 21, 2008 10:17 AM

TN temples are run by the state govt, yes , TN is the only state where there is a separate ministry to manage Hindu temples. No other religious institutions are subjected to the management of this ministry. Probably it all started due to casteism, now it doesnt make sense .
Worse, the govt tends to be corrupt and without imagination . For instance, a huge 1000 pillar hall in the Srirangam temple was used by the civil supplies dept as a rice godown . Also, these temples own huge swathes of agricultural and commercial real estate initially bequeathed to them by the Kings and other people which are grossly missmanged and looted.

The basic problem is most of the Tamil parties think they are atheist in heart, and they tend to display their hatred for anything Godly (only Hindu Gods btw) in the worst possible way by their indifference towards these temples

Anyway, the best way to see Chola temples is to drive along Cauvery delta , from Namakkal (near Salem) to Poompuhar . Also, any big town in TN has at least a centuries -old temple, you cant miss one.

Tajmahal is a peanut when compared south indian temples. Just because it is in north india, the aryan ministers are promoting heavily. for our great central govt ministers, South india looks like a different country of less importance..

Right from freedom fighters to prime ministers..the aryans try to dominate. They want to promote only North indian freedom fighters...like Gandhi, Nehru, bhagat singh....etc and wantedly supressed south freedom fighters....chapters relating to south's freedom struggle are wantedly removed from history text books.......

Don't worry about Taj Mahal. It is a great architecture and the seventh wonder of the world. Tamil Nadu has mostly Christians, who worship an Aryan Prophet like Jesus, and then call other Indians Aryans and create trouble. TN Christians are very cunning and treacherous, who are converted by American missionaries to worship their Aryan God. So why do these South Indians like Aryan Gods like Jesus so much?

If you dont know the facts, just keep your dirty mouth shut. TN has just 6% christins, FYI. Your whole verbal diarrhea makes no sense. You are just an ill-informed religious fanatic out to abuse other religions.

Prasanna, let me first confess that i live in North India and born in North India. Now just read on. I found South Indian temples and culture more fascinating and respectful than of North India. If u think everyone in North India like Tajmahal (Which is a mughal monument not a north Indian monument), then my brother, u r living in false world. And by the way - What is this Aryan or Dravid??? By saying it you are another victim of British propoganda. They used it when we needed to be united. And who told u that Gandhi was north Indian? First know the geograply. He was Gujrati and Gujrat is Western part of our country. And if Bhagat Singh and Chandra Shekhar Azad are respected then its becuase they were freedom fighter and they laid down their life, not because they were north Indian. My friend, please first try to get over of 'manufactured' hang-over of 'Aryan Vs Dravid', only then u will able to realize that every person of our country is Bhartiya (or Indian) first then north,South,West,North-East or East Indian later!

Yeah, nice thinking. Wish everyone in India thought that way. Unfortunately most Indians don't think that way; for most people this is not really one country, it's just a collection of states.

Temples: quo vadis Mr.Trabis
by sethu madhavan on Feb 20, 2008 07:16 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Mr.trabis,
It is not right to say that Nayaks were from TN. tHEY BELONGED TO KARNATAKA/ap/maharashtra. They came during 14th 15th and 16th century. The pandyans were definitely great enemies of the ohertwo he cholas and pallavas and they did ally with their enemies from deccan but it is not to say that the nayakswere from TN. HEY COULD COME ONLY AFTER CHOLAS AND PALLAAS HAD COLETELY DIED OUT BY THE END OF 13TH CENTURY. The pandyans were not atall good rulers. often comparedd to wicked duryodhana and his brothers.

Mr. Ashok somasundaram,
Your comment sucks. It seems to me that you do not know what you are replying to. So i should be asking you to shut. which comment of mine are referring to. I know about Nayaks/vijayanagar too well not to say that they were from outside TN and certainly not among the ancient TN dynasties. The pandyans were worst, often referred to as being as wicked as duryodhana and his brothers. Neither was the Nayak/vijayanagar "RULE"(WAS THERE ANYTHING LIKE THAT FIRST OF ALL?) legitimized by arthasastra. They were ike the underworld and anti-social gangs and terrorists like LTTE of these days. Often resorting to intimidation and use of terror in land grabbing. Any one who legitimizes the above dynasties(Nayaks/vijayanagar/muslims/ pandyans) etc. shall be regarded as a promoter of terror and will have to be reffered to law and order agencies(FBI).

You should know what you are talking about. I know about pandyans. The chola panegyrits have often refereed to them as being like wicked duryodhana and his brothers who were also cousin brothers to pandavas. The connection of pandyans with nayaks itself is on a shaky ground. Nayaks were part of deccan kingdoms during fifteent century.

Of course, Nayaks were not from TN basically; so did we have Maratha rulers in TN.
Rivalary between them, which I am not sure; it could have been a kind of petty quarells.
Usually these kings were content with their empires. Seldom did they think of waging wars with their neighbours unlike their counter parts in persian/mongolian races.

What a racist comment!! What do you base some of this crap on Ram? I have seen other casts that are as racist as the brahmins and I belong to one of them. For instance folks at my village will not allow workers at their fields to enter through the front door even now!! They will not give keys in the hands of the workers, they will throw them on the floor and the workers will have to pick them up from the floor.

Bias and prejudice exists everywhere. Do not pick on one particular sect!! You may be practising what Periyar strongly fought against. Clean your alley before you move on to the next one!!

Brahmins in TN are mostly extinct. Most have run away to cities like Chennai, Trichy and to other states and countries. Very few, less than 1% are left in rural areas. I sometimes feel sorry for them, they are in a similar situation like Muslims. Only a few Muslims give a bad name to Islam, similarly only a few Brahmins give a bad name to their caste. Most other castes in TN are also very casteist and have their own caste-based parties. I have found Christians in TN (mostly Dalit converts) to be the most cunning and treacherous. They are a danger to the integrity of this nation. They worship an foreign Aryan God, and are remnants of British rule who only had contempt for India.
