Thomas nogo India
by Jiten Bardwaj on Feb 18, 2008 11:45 PM

The writer Guy Trebay needs to refer to well-researched papers to find out that no would-be saint Thomas ever lay foot on Indian soil. Therefore 'martyred Thomas' is a no-no. It was a hoax to garner land and sympathy.

Are you one of those relatives of the Union Minister for shipping who has bagged a meaty contract in the sethu canal dredging work?
Or a net savvy fundamentalist with a Hindu name out to denigrate Hindu culture?

Jiten baradwaj is exposing his ignorance and maybe his stupidity too! There is enough documentary proof that Thomas the diciple of Jesus Christ was in Mylapore (Mylai) Chennai and was martyred there. Even your RSS/VHP bosses do not deny the fact! That is why the place of his murder is called St Thomas Mount even today !

Tamilnadu temples
by mvk nadam on Feb 18, 2008 10:44 PM  | Hide replies

This writer appears to be a sick person, came only to write the dirt leaving the faithfuls in utter dismay. While we the Hindu do not criticise other religious believers, this person goes on writing the other side. Does he know the magnificience of Meenakshi Amman Temple at Madurai, Tanjore's temple or Srirangam temples? Such ancient structures cannot be found anywhere in the West. Once you are inside those temple complexes, one forgets one's living and attain the spirituality. They are not only architectural marvels, but they are symbols of faith for lakhs of devotees. Let this person sit at the Lotus pond of Meenakshi Amman Temple with full concentration for five minutes eating the temple prasadam, he would forget himself and reach the feet of divine, and if he does not he is considered to be a beast. These unscrupulous fellows who travel to India in the name of tourism write this sort of nonsensical pieces. They should be condemned outright. Let us pray our Gods and Goddess as they only bless us and lead our lives in an orderly fashion. They provide the mental peace and we attain moksha and nirvana. God bless every Indian, north or south, east or west.

Hmmm..dear Swaroop da, how under informed you are about everything that is Hindu- the religion, its tradition, the organisations that represent it and also the Ram Sethu!
If some self-respecting journalist-of course not trained in the JNU- tries to probe the antecedents of the companies involoved in the sethu canal dredging operations, you will know why the DMK supremo is hell-bent on seeing the construction through.
Yes, the canal is certainly beneficial- only for the unscrupulous politicians and their realtives who have bagged major contracts in the Sethu Region.
Sethu is a security threat and will not be patronized by big vessels and therefore will not bring in the revenue that Pro-sethy lobby is speaking about.
If you are ashamed of your Hindu identity, you are welcome to convert. If you are not a Hindu, whis is most likely, quietly read Indian History and acquaint yourself with facts!

EVR also brought about Reformation in Tamilnadu without which the dalit would have been still cleaning the bramins toilet.

Dear Old Monk, EV Ramasamy Naicker was an illiterate rabble-rouser who only mobilized elite non-brahmin sections against Brahmins.
He did nothing at all for the cuase of the Harijans- a fact admitted by those deprived groups themselves. He was a demagogue who targeted Brahmins only because they did not have any organizational strength to retaliate. But it is a different matter altogether that believed in renting out his properties in and around Erode to only Brahmin tenants. It is the fear of being overshadowed by a few tall Congress leaders of his time in the post-independent era that made him take up the social issues just to muddy the water and remain in the limelight. In none of the educational institutions run by his charitable Trust, Harijans have been given free admission.
He had no ideology other than amassing wealth for himself. His favourite target was Hinduism, again because it is a religion without any organisational structure. Had he shown the same virulence or forthrightness in exposing the aberrations in semitic religions, he would have been more credible.
It is an irony that a Kannadiga who had no respect for Tamil is being hailed as a reformer and saviour of the Tamil race. If anyother leader had uttered such inane things about ancient Tamil literary works, Tamil Nadu would have burnt. Ramasamy Naicker did not have the sincerity or the scholarship to be a reformer or revolutionary. His political ideology was also very 'pragmatic'- support whichever party

Thats why you should familiarize yourself with some historical facts!
EVR, the great Karnataka migrant hailed as a revolutionary and reformer, passed a resolution begging the British to retain at least Madras presidency under them! He put his tabloids 'Viduthalai' and 'Kudi Arasu at the disposal of the British for anti-national propaganda for a hefty sum.
He wanted to observe Aug. 15, 1947 as a Black Day to protest against Independence.
I think you belong to one of those quisling Groups from Tamil Nadu carrying a Bengali name

The slide show is utterly disappointing and disgusting to say the least. There are scores and scores of magnificent architectural marvels like Srirangam temple gopuram, saptha swara stupis of Madurai and Suchindram, magnificent scrulptures of Mamallapuram, so on and so forth. If only Rediff pays 10% of the attention it pays on Bollywood stars in such articles, it would be a great service
