You can make big witout IIM also
by Baba M Joshi on Nov 21, 2006 09:13 AM

You dont have to be from IIM to get a six didgit salary.

You dont have to be from IIM to create wealth. As told in this article. However only Dhirubhai's name was specified.

There are many just look around. GMR is also one good example.

IIMs Are the Best If you're the Best
by Aditya on Nov 21, 2006 12:11 AM

IIMs only mean for those who are preparing for this exam for at least 2-3years.....and if someone feels that experience counts s/he should not take this exam or should not consider any failure in this field and should move on with life.

hey all those who failed 2 perform well in CAT 06, do you still think that the IIMs are the only place that can give you six-figure salaries and brand names to boast of?
by KOustubh on Nov 20, 2006 11:02 PM

hey all those people who gave CAT 06 and may be due 2 bad luck or some other circumstances failed to perform well!!! well i was one of the aspirants of for this years CAT, but english section really left no chances for me!!! Its fine with me as i belive more than every thing in myself!! I just look at those people like Vijay Mallya, Laxmi mittal, No IIM Student even is close by these people's even after getting great 6 figures salaries!!!! I prefer rather being like them instead of wasting another year for CAt preparation!! i know it may sound funny for most of you, but try trusting yourself you can do the impossible!!!

endorse your opinion when you say that "CAT is not the end of life".But having said that what if you prepared
your heart out and failed to deliver due to pity errors . Well there are people who keep lots of expectations from themselves and cracking the CAT is self speaking statement for them or i would rather most of us.and this does not mean we do not have to work harder in life but
clearing CAT might give us enough confidence and tonic to carry on forward in our lives.
Well I am one of those guys who did put lots of effort money and time for preparation and even the mock CATs were showing good signs, but i faltered on the D day which matters the most and i will start all over again from scratch. But i m still in a kind of trauma ,from which i am trying to recover can u help me out?

Hype is just to benefit Coaching Institutes like TIME, IMS, PT etc..
by Vishal on Nov 20, 2006 08:12 PM

The person who earns a lot from this hype is coaching institute. See calculation below.

Per student : 15000 /-
Student per batch : 50 /-
Total amount per batch : 750000
Batches (regular + crash course) with so called reputed institutes : 100 /- (approx)
Total revenue per year : 7,50,00,000 (7.5 crore)
Salary of each coach : 7,00,000 (7 lakh)
No of coach : 10 max
Salary cost : 70,00,000 (70 lakh)
Rent of coahing building + misc : 50,00,000 (50 lakh)
Other cost (books etc..) : 30 lakh
NET INCOME : 6 crore

Can you imagine any MBA Student getting such salary even after rubbing his butt on those IIM benches?

They even used to teach what to answer when some one asks Why you are doing MBA...... This is so ridiculous...... Student who are going to these institute even don't know why they are doing MBA.

My personal experience. I tried to crack it 2 times without coaching, This time I tried to take coaching, but they were so bad that they don't deserve any explaination here. So unprofessional that they are not giving money taken for fees. So at last I filed a case in Consumer court against them.

My humble request, beware of such fraud

IIMs not on right track
by mohit on Nov 20, 2006 08:06 PM

The way IIMs planned the exam, it clearly shows a decline in expectations, especially in mathematics part.It may be concluded that they dont want students with high mathematical abilities.
However, looking at job scene and 6 figured salaries, both require an excellent mathematics component inside students as jobs related to computational finance, derivatie trading etc are highly paid and both need a strong hold on mathematics and the stuff relevant to such requirement couldnt be seen in CAT this year.

Not at all
by ajoy on Nov 20, 2006 06:39 PM

Do u think any IIM graduate enjoy the same power and money as a civil servant.Certainly not.The easiest way to earn loads of money is to be a civil servant and loot the gov exchequer.Might sound ironic but that is the truth.

PS: U dont req to pay tax for most of ur earning.

IIM - MBA
by venkat on Nov 20, 2006 05:05 PM  | Hide replies

IIM has brand image and entrance is tough. But it does not mean that all IIM graduates can work on shop floor and think down to earth. It is a myth.

I have worked in shop floor for eight years before moving to IT.Though I dont have hard coded MBA I can do turn around without dignity of labour.

Its all hype that has been created. If the salary start crashing then people will shut their mouths

I thought of doing MBA but then thought of salary. Chose to go abroad. My friends went to IIM after wasting one year in preparation.

After two years, he went for the job he liked. The same time, I was doing what I want and earning 5 times more than what he was having. Who is a fool?
