Panthera Leo
Shining Star
by Panthera Leo on May 22, 2009 06:14 PM

Dr. Kalam is undoubtedly the shining star of our country. He is still the president in the minds of many and it is really sad that corrupt politicians could not see beyond their petty gains. They accumulate riches which they cannot carry beyond their life and nobody will remember them once they are gone.... They may think that their statues accross the country will make them memorable... but no they are mere stones in odd places..... they will never be in the people's memory and when they are talked about it will be with contempt. All we have done in India thus far is replace 'blue blood' dynasties with 'normal blood' dynasties..... dynasties just the same.....systematic rape of the country just the same... common man sufferings just the same...

Why to wave cast / regional flag
by Siddhant Kumar on May 22, 2009 06:14 PM

As par my knowledge Kalam is Indian and not a Tamil/Muslim or any thing else. Please do not try to divide my country based on region/language/cast/religion.

All are in the same pool
by parthiban krish on May 22, 2009 06:04 PM

Family politics is just not confined to DMK, Mr Nadar. Even the congress is full of Mr JN's relatives on the top brass. Ofcourse everybody has worked during elections for their party, and hence would try to grab the opportunities with the support factor even when being new to the field. That is what DMK chief tried to do so but in truth should not have done so. You should have addressed the article in a more broader sense that the congress also repents for its greater scams and follies done in the past and now wants to correct it and change to a new ethnic politics. Then you can bully in the DMK aspects.

Karunanidhi's Demands
by Shankar Eppoor on May 22, 2009 06:04 PM

It is surprising to see an article of this nature, that too criticising one of the powerfull yet dubious alliance partner of the Secular Congress. The author has rightly pointed out that contrary to BJP's comments on MMS as weakest PM, he has shown courage. This is too early an accolade to be showered on the puppet PM. The author has to remember that in 2004, the same DMK had sent a list of ots ministerial candidates and their desired portfolio, which was agreed to by Congress and the same was distributed to the journos at a press conference held at Anna Arivalayam. Where wre this Ganes Nadar at that time? If Congress is such an holy cow, what prevented it from ordering for a CBI (Congress Bureau of Investigation) on the Madurai Dinakaran incident? After all 3 innocent lives were lost; 3 families lost their bread winners. Yet Dayanidhi Maran who shed crocodile tears at that time is now seen hobnobing with the murderers. No media is dared to raise this issue. But that is understandable, since most of the media are more worried about Narendra Modi, VHP and BJP and to find fault with them. Media turns a blind eye to the so called secular parties' blunders.

Finger, dont worry. The govt will last long for simple two reasons:
1. DMK will not withdraw support to Congress as they need Congress help in Tamil to retain power
2. All the alliance partners and outside supporters will not withdraw support for congress for next 5 years as the fear of NDA coming to power and hooking these guys out from Swiss bank will bring nightmare for these people. That is the reason Amar Singh, Mulayam, Mayavati, NCP and all other sundries are ganging up to support Congress, even though Congress never called for such support. The fear of loosing money is enough to keep the flock together.

For god's sake, this is not Karunanidhi's govt
by Purushottam Singi on May 22, 2009 05:52 PM  | Hide replies

I feel that Mr. karunanidhi fully deserves his honorary Doctorate. But reat of his demands are purely selfish. He has converted the Dravidian movement of Ramswami Nayakar and C.M.Annadurai into his personal property like any other political party in India, barring the BJP and Communists. This is a real degeneration of Indian politics.
I am not a Tamilian, but as an Indian is very proud of Dr.Kalam.
This is an appeal to all Indians ,please rise above casteiest politics.
