BJP AND CONGRESS
by Yash Bhatnagar on May 19, 2009 02:09 AM  | Hide replies

BJP losers please respect the verdict of the people and work hard to win their trust.
Congress winners please do not get big headed, act with humility and work hard to justify the trust people have reposed in you.
Please BJP be a good constructive opposition - Mandir issue is not the real problem facing Indians - people have matured. Why don't both parties join hands to pledge an end to poverty in the next 10-15 years, 100% literacy and an acceptable living standard for the poorest of the poor. Best wishes to all.

I agree with you.. Need of the hour is constructive politics. In this time of global recession, India has to act responsibly and concentrate on development. If we Indians ac together, we could get rid of poverty in next 5 - 10 years.

Till date I seriously think the guys who set thmselves on fire opposing the mandal commission in 1990...shud hav instead tried to do the RDB act against VP Singh.

BJP and Congress
by Scientist on May 19, 2009 02:00 AM  | Hide replies

The BJP has made the same mistake again by getting Advani to be the leader of opposition. Advani also needs to realize that neither will he be in a position to stand in the 2014 elections nor will he be able to lead NDA to victory even if he does. The best option should be for them to look for younger and more competent alternatives. People like Yashwant Sinha who are capable and are likely to have better appeal with other parties should be promoted. It may be good in the short run that congress has decimated parties like the left, SP, RJD etc., but not in the long-run. The first statement Sonia gave after congress returned to power was that "it is time for the people of India to realize that only congress can provide an able administration". This reflects that the victory has gone to her head since it is as though the people of India are stupid fellows who don't understand what is good for them. It is important that regional parties must be there in the government so that a balance is maintained and the main ruling party does not behave irresponsibly - like Rajiv Gandhi sending Indian troops to Sri Lanka to fight their war.
Likewise, it is important that there is a credible opposition - the NDA that can offer an acceptable alternative to the people. Only then a healthy democracy can flourish, else the number of people who feel suffocated like me because of only one family rule will increase. Many times I wonder why there cannot be an alternative at all to the Gandhi family

yes rite...in a big country like India..dynasty rule is kin of suffocating..as if 10 billion ppl cant produce an able ruler..
NDA is a gud option..they shud become little less extremist and I think Arun Jaitley or Arun shourie r best ppl to lead NDA.

by progress on May 19, 2009 02:00 AM

I didnt want congress to come to power solely because of Arjun Singh.

It scares me to hell to think what comes next..20 New IITs without buying land for them, Private Sector Reservation, Faculty Reservation.

I sincerely pray to God that he is removed frm the Cabinet this time. I think Rahul Gandhi or Shashi Tharoor will be apt candidates for HRD ministry.

Arjun Singh shud retire
by abcd efg on May 19, 2009 01:43 AM  | Hide replies

HRD ministry shud be given to someone like Sam Pitroda or Prof. Yashpal or Dr.Kalam, someone politically neutral from the academic side who can reform the education system and convert schools and colleges to a place of academics and research. Today they are degree shops at their best and ideological camps at their worst. If only Young Indians, comprising 35% of total, is given good Education, it will transform India, no need for any other ministry to do any work.

Arjun Singh has done more disservice to the nation than anyone during his last tenure...dividing people again, and attempting to decimate the Institutes of Higher education...and most essentially, an attempt to divide the youth of the country...These are sins for which you can't be jailed, but only your soul hates you..and tht's pitiable. Shun Reservations, Shun Arjun Singh
