A vote in fvour of Dawn.
by Hiren Bafna on May 18, 2009 09:53 AM

Hi Sai, Good One. But it hides lot of things than it says. Congress won 21 seats in UP but the vote share is only 18%. The net gain of 8% and still they got 11 more seats. This is a problem. I believe this election is still at same position as was in 2004. Congress won mainly in RAJasthan, Andhra, Kerala, West Bengal. BJP lost in RAJASTHAN 17 seats, MP 9 Seats, Uttaranchal 3 seats, Maharashtra 4 seats, Delhi 1 Seat but gained in Jharkhand 7 seats, Bihar 8 seats. Thus they have gone down a bit in their tally. India has to move to a Two front system with Center of The Left and Center of Right. If RAHUL Gandhi has to become a true mass leader he has see to it that India gets more Roads, Power. Remember congress is still a party whose ally is India Union Muslim League. If India has to prosper then we have to evolve a system where the country is ruled by a democratic party and not by a Family owned party like Congress. Congress has to go away from the Dynasty to show to the world that it is organisation which is 130 years old.

Why India chose EVM machines in the first place?
by Bharat on May 18, 2009 09:47 AM

Even technologically advanced countries like US do not believe in EVM's. I dont know why Indians have chosen to go the EVM way... In a country like India with lot of corrupt politicians, it does not need much brains or brawns to rig the EVMs. I hope the people of India will realize this!

This is a win of Muslim votebank politics
by R on May 18, 2009 08:35 AM  | Hide replies

Congress improved in UP because of tactical voting by Muslims. They voted for the candidate most likely to defeat BJP. Pseudo secularist persons like Mahesh Bhatt etc spent lot of time in UP in identifying such candidates/parties and then spreading this message to the Muslims.

Muslims are spoilt with choice since all non-BJP parties are running after their votes, since they vote en-block. Congress used this with great results till 1980s. Then SP took over this minoritism. For the last few years, BSP is trying to take over Muslim vote bank. Due to this tactical voting, Maya is cribbing that Cong, SP has not allowed her to take over the Muslim votebank.

There is a news report in Times of India today how Muslims voted en-block in Delhi in favor of Congress.

Due to the en-block voting of Muslims, all parties are giving undue advantages to Muslims sometimes at cost of Hindus. This is dividing the country on communal lines. BJP is the only secular party since it is not favoring any religion including Hindus. At best, they can protect Hindus from loosing out due to undue favor to Muslims.

By nuclear deal congress sold the country to the west. Now, they will make sure black money is transferred to the perfect location smoothly.

Congress kept inflation high 8-9% enabling black marketiers to loot, then just before vote made it 0.2% to fool voters.

60,000 crore tax benefit to rich farmers, making poor farmers even poorer.

240,000 crore to US companies. Why????? By nuclear deal he is selling the country.

Excellent opportunity for Congi to start building India.
BJP gave us fourlane Highway.
Cong should nationalise all Indian rivers and link them together.

UPA gained mainly from Left, 3rd-4th front. NDA remains a force.
by kumar on May 18, 2009 01:02 AM

People should not get carried away by the 2009 election results and read too much in it. This simply was a vote against the obstacles of progress (namely, the Left and similar regional parties), with the Congress turning out to be the bigger beneficiary as the BJP hardly has a strong presence in many of the states that were earlier dominated by the commies or other regionals.

I cannot say whether Congress rigged the EVM or not, but an EVM can be easily rigged by people in the know. Its child's play!.

How do I know? My company was involved in the initial concept design and bidding process for the design of the EVM's. Needless to say that we didn't win the bid because my company don't have processes to support the under-the-table cash demands to win govt projects.

Before anyone jumps all over me and shout sour grapes: I don't speak for/believe in ANY political party of India. Heck... I didn't even vote.

why bring in allaaa in this? That explains everthing you stand for and why grapes are sour. Your EVM design did not get selected because it could be rigged. Does that mean all others are idiots and would put forth a design that can be rigged? would all other parties with billions at their disposal would not find out if EVMs can be rigged? You are an idiot, moron, think your are a great technocrat when actually you have pea brains, are just a sidey in some sidey company....

With the Left parties suffering their most humiliating defeat
by Vishnu Sharma on May 17, 2009 10:51 PM  | Hide replies

It is time now to take Naxalism and Maoism by the horns and dash it to the ground and bury it head first.

We want this evil to be tackled and eradicated in all Naxal and Maoist insurgency affected states.

Does ManMohan have the guts to do this ?

Vishnu Sharma, they do not operate in a vacuum. Have you ever gone to Bastar (the largest district in India - almost the size of Kerala State)? The Tribals are exploited by the Mining mafia and money lenders. They cannot earn even Rs. 50 per day. Without improving the living conditions of such people, it is impossible to eradicate Naxalism and maoism.

First comes the firm hand of LAW
Then comes any talk about improving living conditions.

Stop putting the Wagon in front of the horse all the time as LEFTISTS are wont to do.

First we will eliminate the Maoists and Naxals and then we will see what we can to improve the living conditions of tribals.

Sri-Lanka also got this straight. First eliminate LTTE, then talk to Tamils about equal constitutional rights.

If you come in my way ! I will blow your brains out.

And who voted for Congis? Gullible Mus1ims who have been kept the poorest of poor for the past 62 years; cunning X'tians who want to harvest the souls of illiterate tribals/dalits of Orissa, MP and Rajasthan; a few gullible/poor h1ndus who have been swayed by the Congi's largesse from public exchequer (like loan waive of farmers who committed suiciide). The Congis spent public money for building their image. Every Scheme of the Central Govt is named after one member of other of the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Global wave against religious fundametalism
by AK AK on May 17, 2009 09:59 PM

People are tired of wars, bloodshed, hatred in the name of religions. They want peace and want to live their lives with their families. They dont want governments to be a moral police, they are tired of jingoistic dramas, empty slogans played out before them for too many years. Similar verdict delivered against Christian conservative party in US. Similar verdict is waiting against muslim conservative party in Iran. If you look closely all these non secular, conservative, pseudo-nationalistic parties of different religions act very similar. They always talk more, show unnecessary aggresion towards little causes, ignore poverty and other social ills, isolate people who disagrees with them. They all share paranoid obsession with their cultures. Each and everything is perceived as a threat to their way of life. Their firebrand talking heads usually control their parties. Ex Rush limbaugh, sean hannity, micheal savage, narendra modi, varun gandhi, ahmadinejad etc. These people know nothing better than just revving up the base voters with divisive propaganda while spreading ignorance and intolerance. These jokers while promoting their own individual brand push away anyone who even remotely disagrees with them. It's unbelievable how similar all these fundamentalist parties are alike in rhetoric, public persona and on major issues. It's just that they cling on to different religions. People had enough of this drama, they want mature educated statesman as leaders now.
