inclusion of Lalu , Paswan and Mulayam Singh in cabinet
by Satish Goel on May 18, 2009 09:37 AM

If these three opportunist leaders are included in the cabinet that will be against the mandate of the people and will inflict heavy blow on the congress.

4th Front
by Krishna Govindan on May 18, 2009 09:28 AM

The Congress should never include Deve Gowda and his party. They were the people who back stabbed the Congress in Karnataka once, the BJP once and then tried to mend fences with both the Congress and the BJP. The father and son duo have always been great actors. Remember the act they put up when Father Gowda said that son Gowda had gone behind his back and allied with the BJP in setting up a Government in Karnataka? The understanding then was that Son Gowda would be CM for 18 months and then the BJP would have it's nominee as the CM. When the time came for the son Gowda to step down and hand over power to the BJP, father Gowda came up with many high sounding excuses. By that time father and son had publicly become one leading most people to believe (and correctly) that the earlier ploy of the son supposedly going behind the father's back and allying with the BJP was just a drama. You do expect a certain sense of pragmtism in politics where they say that you do not have permanent friends or enemies. But you need to have confidence in the promises made by politicians in alliances. This father/son duo can not be trusted even for a glass of water. Congress needs to understand that they (the Gowda duo) come to the negotiating table only for their interests.Karnatka is a wonderful State. It's people are friendly, humble and gracious. But not this father and son. I am from Kerala but travel a lot in Karnataka.

The loss of BJP was not really people's verdict. Let's face it BJP has a strong hold in the North but next to none in the South. They literally did not contest in three states AP,Kerala and TN. They also do not have any presence in WB. How can you expect them to get over 200 seats if they have literally no presence in states like WB,AP and TN. Orissa also burnt BJP a bit. They made a big mistake by not joining hands with TDP & AIADMK before the election. TDP and AIADMK were expecting a sweep and were brought down to earth by the people for their overconfidence. BJP really needs to spend the next five years figuring out how they can make themselves seen as a national party capable of leading a nation in TN,AP & WB. And they need a lot of young faces and need them soon. They have to do what Congress did in UP by reaching out to the people. Well Congress led this country for over 50yrs and they have again got a chance for another 5yrs. For me the people deserve what they really deserve. Now go pay more bribe and stand in the big queue's. Let's make sure congress and the Gandhi's rule the country forever. You all deserve no more than this.

How is it ok to partner with Muslim League? I thought UPA would partner only with secular parties.

If I start a Hindu League, would I also be considered secular?

Come what may, please don't have any truck with Lalu, Mulayam and Paswan. These people do not have a clear vision, programme and understanding of good governance. They are just power-mongers and have no scruples, which is amply evidenced by their unscrupulous pre-election public speeches deriding the Congress leadership. Stay away from them; if you don't, they can become a gangrene, necessitating amputation at a later stage.

Only Nitish kumar and Navin Patnaiks parties should be invitedted to join the UPA government, or even to support the government at the Centre.
Let Nitish kumar be with BJP at the state level and act as a bridge between Congress and BJP in order to achieve higher growth rates in all the fields.
No need to take support from any other opportunist parties.

Modi is a baggage to BJP
by South Indian on May 18, 2009 07:48 AM  | Hide replies

Summary of this election - wherever Modi goes, BJP lost it badly

Modi in charge of Maharashtra, a series of meetings in as many as 25-30 constituencies, only in 3 of them NDA people win..

Modi again vigourously campaign many parts of Uttara Pradesh, BJP loss most seats, win 10 seats in some areas where the RLD has a presence, piggyback on them

Modi goes Orissa and rest is history. Navin Patnaik gets brutal majority in Orissa assembly and win majority LS seats

So just check, wherever he went BJP bite the dust. Even in Gujarat Congress won 11 and 2 seats they lost by slender margins to BJP. Even Rajkot BJPs citadel fell. BJPs vote percentage in Gujarat drastically down.

Anf after election results are out, nobody knows where Modi is!

Modi has already sowed the seeds of a gangrene in the BJP. Amputation is the only remedy.

Inclusive Politics
by AJ Kumar on May 18, 2009 07:45 AM  | Hide replies

Two possibilities exist:

Non Pre poll alliance Regional Parties (Fourth Front) should merge their MP's with Congress and become part of government without the chance of blackmailing later. If they try to breakaway they will lose MP status. This will lead to ultimately two party system at the center.

Other solution is Pre poll alliance parties should get Cabinet/MoS berths in the ratio of seat share while Post Poll parties only the MoS. Independents can be treated differently as one block.

sharing with 4th front
by suryanarayanan ramesh on May 18, 2009 07:41 AM

Congress should not share the government with 4th front because they have treated the Congress very badly by mouthing.

Even they threatened at one point of time in sharing the government & contesting part of it. But it's Nice 2 C that Congress party as expected finalised with Independents without giving any room 4 future headaches.

More than that communal BJP has been defeated that's the good news more than everything else & BJP deserves that.
