Advani is a Politician; MMS is a Statesman.
by New York on May 16, 2009 12:19 PM

"A POLITICIAN thinks of the next election; a STATESMAN of the next generation." -- Unknown

* Advani has FAILED to answer MMS's simple question till date.
* What did Advani accomplish for India? (covertly demolishing BABRI MASJID?)
* MMS personal contribution to India is inking NUCLEAR DEAL with Nuclear Suppliers Group.
* And MMS defied Communists to get the deal ratified in the Parliament.

Democracy won
by Raj Adhikari on May 16, 2009 12:08 PM

No matter which party is winning, the ultimate winner is our democratic system. That is what keeps India above all these dictator and communist countries. Congress and BJP have same policies so it does not matter who is at the helm. Dr. Singh is the best leader to lead us during this global turmoil and Indians have said it loudly and clearly.

I'm particularly against Mamata and her destructive politics.

Having said that, I think the Left reaped as it sowed. They should not have Congress in the back during the Confidence motion. If they stuck with the Congress and fought together, we would not have to suffer Mamata.

If anybody's destructive politics has destroyed Left's options in WB, more than TMC, it was that fool - Karat.

Finally, Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, you deserve a hats off.

Kaushik, I agree with you entirely (in fact, more than entirely). Prakash Karat has successfully ruined the prospects of the Left in West Bengal, and neither did he retain Kerala!!
It again proves that the Bengal line (which spoke against withdrawing support to the UPA govt) was right. They could oppose and criticise the nuclear treaty, but they had no business withdrawing support.

True - People like Buddha are much better than Mamata or Karat. I think he is more like MMS - honest and committed - rare traits these days.

I never thought I would agree with Subas Chakraborty - but fact is he is making comments that make more sense than others in CPM. They should put away Karat in a black cell and throw away the key, get Somenath back and put BB in charge - only way we can hope to have a good Govt in WB next year.

The future prospects of the Left could be more bleak than most of us can ever imagine. There are practically no leaders (of the calibre of Promod Dasgupta, Jyoti Basu, Anil Biswas etc) who could regenerate the party. I don't have faith in the organisation-capacity of Biman Bose and others at present. They drove out Saifuddin Chowdhury and Somnath Chattopadhyay who could contribute. Indeed, Me Karat may have to answer many questions.

I would beg to differ Mr. Ray. Left leaders of WB are only to blame for this. I've given reasons already.

In CPM's rule, where bengal stand now vis-a-vis rest of India you must first learn. Bengalis like you do not know what is called Development and probably you are from Kolkata (Who never venture out of their own den but gives big ideological dialogue).

Party wise trend :

This clearly prooves that your theory of congres wining only aginst small parties is wrong . BJP is dropping a whopping 18 seats . Mate , dont try to justify . Its a solid mendate in favour of MMS and SOnia . No matter what you may think . Only Rahul was saying congres will win more than 180 seats and he is being proved correct.
