No confusion only Bingo to TMC
by phalguni mukherjee on May 16, 2009 03:00 PM  | Hide replies

Friends please wecome results/trends whole heartedly. Dont be so cynical, don't worry so much about Mamata. Just give TMC 10 yrs to Govern WB. WB people are too much confused, worried, fearfull, cynical and critical. Be generous .... this will bring properity to WB.

Stop spreading your prejudice among others. For once, start to see reality with a clear mind. Minds of most of the people like you are cluttered because you've been brainwashed for 32 yearsinto believing that everything is going great in WB. But for people like us who have ventured out of WB and seen the rest of India and compared with WB, we know how grim the situations are in WB.
In all fairness, Mamta definitely deserves one or two chances when we've given 7 chances to the non-performing LF.
The LF has been winning based on their cadre strength and vote machinery. Let there be a free and fare poll for the assembly and you'll be once again surprised like now. The anger and resentment among the people of WB against LF is at its extreme. The intellectuals aren't calling for the change just like that. They have gone to the rural areas and realised the voice of the people there.
There is still time, please wake up and embrace the reality.

what are we talking about? Left Front still rules West Bengal and shall continue to do so atleast till 2011 which is another 2 years! And two years is a long time for the Left to again regroup and continue with their vice like grip over West Bengal. Remember, if it was not for the Marxists, India would not have been saved by the claws of recession which the West particularly America is facing presently.
Bengalis are functionally the leaders of intelligentsia and such an attribute is very intrinsic to a bengali. There is nothing wrong with Bengal and it never was so. In fact, if there is one State in India where things have always been right it is because of the Left ( pun intenfded).

what went wrong?
by hokuram on May 16, 2009 02:34 PM  | Hide replies

It could not be that suddenly people have realised misrule of left after 32 yrs? If we look back just 2 yrs back they got a resounding victory in the assembly election reducing Mamta to only 29 seats. It is also not the first time that Trnimool and Cong fought together. The main cause is CPM is no longer 'left' in action. They are behaving like any other right wing party. Last straw came during Singur and then Nandigram. In order to make the middle class happy, they started acquiring land as per the choice of the Industrialists. In stead of creating infrastructure for Industry on non agriculture land Bhuddhadev took a shortcut to get instant fame. He promised agriculture land to TATAs and Selims. When resistance came, instead of standing with the traditional support base CPM was found supporting the industrialist. As people are convinced that only handful of job would be created in these factories, that too for highly skilled people, they started doubting left as a party of the Poor and Laborers. Firing at Nandigram could not be digested by the 'Bhadrolokes' of Bengal. Congress of 70s was thrown out because of then CM, Sidhartashakar Rays so called police raj. So this drubbing is due to change in political attitude of left when they are shown to be more like a party of Industrialists and business. In fact people of Bengal now find Trinomool more left than current CPM. A Kind of role reversal.

Do agree on your points but in addition to those the decision of Prakash Karat for withdrawing support has exposed Left front in the public. I personnaly know few hard core left supporters had voted against left due to Prakash. This is matter of shame that prakash loves his party more than country or any thing else and party wants their own benifit rather than country's progress.

I think this result is mainly because of the swing of minorities vote...it is true that Left has done certain mistakes in past..but under the present circumstances Mr. Bhattacharya is the best option for Bengal.... and of course the Bengal leaders should have oppose Prakash karat more firmly...what he did was extremely uncalled for....

nuclear pact did not have nay impact. as part of assignment i have traveled across india during this election. most people even have not heard of it. had that been the case, bjp would also face the same consequence as they also have voted against the bill. yes, in case left would not withdrawn support, then there is chance that congress and tmc would not have fought together, that would have given a mathematical advantage. but the fact of the matter is, cpm has lost their place in the heart and mind of poor people of bengal.

Effect of support withdrawl against Nuclear deal maynot have big direct impact in rural areas but it has great impact on Cities from where CPM has dethroned. Also has given opprtunity for TMC/Congress alliance. It was clevery masterminded act for the creation of TMC in bengal to ensure 100 years in power of left parties (for the creation of spineless opposition absolutely) not materialised. Sorry Mr. J.Basu your successor not understood your political trics for staying in power years after years. We are just waiting to receive addamant statement of Dr.Pandit,Bimanbabu for foolish act of people.

The people became more resilient now. They are defying LF in bigger mass. Haven't you noticed that the political fights have become equal now with many suffered and exploited villagers coming under TMC umbrella to fight the LF high-handedness? How can you justify LF strongholds like Diamond Harbour & Barrackpore losses?
TMC is following LF footsteps of late 70s.
In all fairness the same verdict would've been reflected in earlier elections if a free and fair poll could've been ensured earlier. If every booth is put under army rule in next assembly election, you'll be surprised once again with the results.

Once TMC runs Government, then TMC n Co. faces opposition hurdles from left parties and West Bengal remains chaotic. But still this change is required badly.

r u mad ? don't forget, Bengal was no. 1 on industrial growth in India til 1972 under leadership of Congress govt. It is the red bastian who had erased that pride. Now once again if congress comes into power, probably you will apply for a job there ( of course if u r capable for that ??? )as once again chances of industrial growth will be there.

well she will be better parlamentarian than a memeber of assembly member. She should not commit another mistake by seeing this overwhelming victory and again shifting to assembly will direct her to grave
