I was very impressed when I heard him talk to Fareed on CNN-GPS. I wished that he becomes India's Foreigh minister. I am very happy that my wish might come true.

Please spell the city name correctly

It is rather difficult for outsiders, but I would expect rediff to at least spell Thiruvananthapuram correctly. As it is spelled in the article now (Thiruvanathapuram), the meaning is totally different!

Maybe the old name was more convenient, although it sounded like some kind of drum!

WAIT AND SEE
by san fan on May 16, 2009 08:04 PM

Very early to say some thing about his new role as there are real challenges ahead waiting for him. Winning election is just the first step. Wait and see whether he would be able to survive.

All evil designs backfired at BJP:

Women attacks which led parents to feel insecure to send their daughters outside home for the fear of unexpected attacks, Pub attacks, Church attacks, Mosque attacks, Arson, rapes, murders, violence everywhere, Kandhamal, Gujarath genocide, Varuns hate and divsion oriented speech, polarising society in the name of culture and religion, hindu terror which killed innocent hindus, Mocking decent man like Manmohan ..... BJP has terribly lost to its own ploys of bringng bad name to others. I am happy for the verdict. Indian people are mature enough to judge the parties.

A much Required Win
by George Ukkuru on May 16, 2009 07:23 PM

The people of Trivandrum had a lot of speculation on whether he will win the election as there were lot of candidates. It is indeed a very remarkable win. Hope he will be inducted into the ministry.
