Definitely ! How many statues has Obama got of himslef installed - 0, she has to be greater, and he does not get diamond necklaces for his birthday, and his party senators do not torture businessmen to extract loot for his birthday either, so on all these counts she is so much better !

Muslims where cheated by there own people like Hassan Ali who has 6 billion US dollar in swiss bank...He used to send muslims to Gulf for job but used to take huge money and made them to work as labour....muslims Instaed of balming BJP they ahould blame or slap chappal on such person...Muslims are better placed in BJP ruled state than any other state....

Hassan Ali has hawala money and not money from people going to the gulf ! Get your facts straight at least !- and currently the 6 billion has been shown by swiss banks to be a forgery. So please do your home work and then come here.

Mike , while i agree with you about the social conditions of our so called dalit brothers but i must tell you in the same vein that even the dalit leaders who had and have powers including Maya , when got chance, have done precious little for their brethren.

My Dear Brother, I am in agreement with you. But you will agree that building statues, domes & parks would not empower & uplift the dalits. Thousands of crores have been wasted by her on Tughlaq type ventures. I have number of dalit friends who openly talk about feeling cheated & deprived. This lady was given after 16 years in UP for the first time a clear mandate to govern but she has literally wasted it. Her own constituency i.e. dalits are feeling the most let down. Had she wanted she could have created innumerable job opportunities for our dalit brothers provided them housing, health, sanitation & small industries but what has she done literally nothing.

Mike, I am sorry to read the pain written and inbetween the lines. Hindu religion is wonderful as philosophy but its untouchability, unequality and inhuman behaviour to other human of the same society who are discreminated based on the birth ( which they do not have choice ), is absolutely wrong. This is the reason for conversion to other religions and if they go to Islaam, then they have taken lot of revenge due to the bad memories they had. We need a castless society where every body has equal rights for education, worship according to faith and work according to your liking / aptitude. I do not know whether this dream will come true some day. Discrimination is a crime against GOD and needs a severe punishment by law.

Mike, being Dalit is not a matter of shame but being a woman who is called Mayawati is a matter of Shame. There are reasons: 1. She did nothing to the State which is above her cast, creed ,religion. 2. Rather she created hurdles in the development process by opposing the Electrial Power plants from Reliance, Railway coach production plant etc. She only fooling the dalits and using them like footmat, where she cleans all her dirt. She is a most crooked and corrupt lady CM, UP has ever seen. Unfortunately I am waiting for somebody who will get POWER, ROADS, COMMUNICATION, and poltable WATER in the STATE of Ganges, the most worshipped and most abused.

We havent seen much real development in her terms in UP. First she needs to show/proof at the state level that she's good enough to handle the bigger responsibility. She's just a hyped persona and quite likely would sink after few terms. She indulges caste based politics which is communal in nature and not acceptable by big number of people nationally.

Its amazing how she could woo brahmins into her party. Brahmins are given special privileges in her party. It is very clear, wherever there is chance of winning brahmins will join there. They want power and money. They knw how to get it.

Someone in this forum asked me what difference it has made after joining Christianity. To be frank it has made lot of difference in terms of lifting my social problems that comes with being a dalit. People around me treat well and also show lot of love and respect. They are always ready to help and also counsel in difficulties. Christianity is not all about money and fooling as many people here complain. I was not converted by anyone. I approached people and gathered information and finally made a conscious decision of joining Christianity. I am more happy than before. I made this decision thinking of my futiure generations and also to come into mainstay in society. Christianity has given me strength to live a dignified and wonderful life. What more do I need ?

Use your brain and then think rather than reading some books. Dont borrow from others, generate from within using ur brain and potential and experience.
rediff has goofed big time in mentioning the CASTE NAMES . It should have known that it is illegal, criminal and against the LAw TO MENTION SOME OF THESE "JAATI-SOOCHAK" words . I REPORT ABUSE AGAINST THIS ARTICLE OF REDIFF .
