LATEST RESULTS NOW BY EVEN THE WESTERN BASED CENSORS .THE BJP SHIV SENA WILL UPROOT THE VERY CORRUPT AND WORTHLESS 10YRS RULE IN MAHARASTRA BY CONGREESS NCP .
EVEN IN WB CONGRESSS WILL ONLY GAIN A LITTLE WITH MAMTA AND WILL BE UNABLE TO UPROOT THE COMMUNIST RULE THERE .
EVEN AT NATIONAL LEVEL ALL THE 3FRONTS ARE LIKELY TO GET NEAR ENOUGH EQUAL AND IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT FOR ANYONE TO FORM GOVERNMENT .IF SOMEONE DOES FORM IT WILL FALL WITHIN A VERY SHORT TIME .

Leaders without people support
by Ravi Shankar on May 13, 2009 05:13 PM  | Hide replies

Has Mr Prakash Karat ever stood for an Parlimentary election and won ?
Most of the communist party leaders are barking dogs, they do not have the guts to stand in elections and than talk in parliment.

Karat Ji
by ashok jain on May 13, 2009 05:02 PM

The worst time the Left faced is during the Karat era, not at all a reasoned person. What has happened to the other Blocks of Left, namely, CPI, AIFB etc. Are their leaders slave of Mr. Karat. It is good that left should show unity but not at the whims of one single person. It has been observed that Mr. karat is a person who stick to his gun, no matter the shot fired is hitting the innocent. The UPA has been going smoothly and the policies being persued by it always had the consent of the Left. Only on one issue, that is , nuke deal, they created the whole drama and put the unity of UPA into shamble. If they were to oppose the deal they should have done it at a very initial stage. aftewr signing the deal it was naturally impossible for any Head of state to back it out for which Mr. Karat and company insisted. PM rather put his chair at stake by asking for the confidence vote for the Govt. knowing fully that he is going to lose. Thanks to the samajvadis that the govt. won the motion. Can any one dare like that? Secondly, Mr.Karat went to the extent of dragging the office of Speaker to disrepute thinking that Da is his personal property. Refusing to resign by Som Da from the Office of Speaker and the move of the PM to seek a vote of confidence should have been eye opener for Mr. Karat. Also, UPA, more or less, followed the dictum of Left for more than four years.Today he is no where, ofcourse a big loss to govt. employees that left is not in future govt.

Use of money & muscle power by Bourgeois Party like Congress
by Suresh Babu on May 13, 2009 05:00 PM

Every year there is an election to Jawaharlal Nehru University Union, where the Communist students union is being elected. This is because in this election, money and muscle power will not any effect and hence, the communists is winning. So the Congress & BJP is winning in the elections because of the money power and muscle power of them.

Results of Loksabha 2009
by N H on May 13, 2009 04:48 PM  | Hide replies

Karat's dogmatic attitude has troubled UPA. These communists don't have any policy nor programs and only tom tom the issues and live in dreams. They don't want to live in future. They treat everything as fiefdoms and criticize in the worst possible ways. They have seen Russia falling. china has adopted capitalism and now want to stall the development process of the government who want to move ahead and forge coalition under Common Minimum program. If communists are so caring about the public they must join hands with parties and involvethemselves in running the government together.

Red salute to Comrade Karat
by mailme alladin on May 13, 2009 04:45 PM  | Hide replies

Most of the people in this forum criticise Mr. Karat. But I really don't see any genuine reason. He is one of the rarest clean politicians. He sticks to the principle, doesn't matter it brings the party some votes or loses votes.
Just yesterday, Amar Singh told in a interview on NDTV, he contacted Karat for CBI matter(read - CBI investigation against Mulayam), but Mr. Karat didn't entertain him. Then only SP went against left, went with Congress and supported N-deal. The gut that Mr. Karat has shown, the same guy Sonia or Monmahon Singh didn't show.
Even then at end of the day, Karat is most hatred.
Indians need to grow up. We can never do well as a nation until we change our morality.

you are correct Karat might have stick to his principles but problem is his communist principles are very dangerous for any democracy and any flourishing economy. People hate him because he is a communist.

For Karat, CBI enquiry against Mulayam is correct but CBI enquiry aganist P.Vijayan (Kerala CPM sec) is politically motivated. Which other CPM secretary had made such a statement? Jyoti Basu cannot become PM but Karat can become PM. Open your eyes and see the point.

Third Front
by Cyriac Joseph on May 13, 2009 04:34 PM  | Hide replies

The so called Third Front is lke a cancer that relapses every time there is a general election - A bunch of opportunists with nothing in common other than their quest for power come together at this time every election, hoping against hope that the electorate will be fooled into thinking this is a homogenous block. The inherent contradictions within the grouping make the whole thing a non starter!

As for the leaders of the pack - the communists - while some of them may be men of personal integrity like Karat and Achuthananthan (which is more than what can be said for many others in their ranks), the effects of putting these `heads in the ground' idealists in power can be seen from the state in which the industrial units of Kerala and West bengal are in. West bengal, which has the more pragmatic party leadership, has gone the China way, with communism in theory and capitalism in practice - which has had some positive impact on their industry. Kerala on the other hand, has tried to put into practice all their communnist dogma and what have we there - a society which survives on the dwindling remittances of exploited workers in the deserts of the Middle east and a resident population of government pen-pushers and the rest of its society either exploiting the truly capitalist - materialistic `keep-up-with-the-joneses' mentality of the middle class Malayalee or involved in servile jobs pandering to the whims of the well-heeled capitalists on holiday from more fortunate states!
