DMK should get the credit
by Corba Sub on May 07, 2009 09:56 PM  | Hide replies

DMK should be fully credited for the rapid industrialization of Sriperumpudur. Maran got several industries like Nokia, Motorola, Samsung etc. With a modern airport proposed, this place is one of the most industrialized part in the country (often called the Shanghai of India). But the sad thing about Indian democracy is educated people (who work in these companies) don't vote and only uneducated people vote for money and liquor.
I have to agree that jobs created by these companies didn't reach the locals as expected but there is a positive impact to the community in terms of services, better roads etc in the future as MNC's are crowding this place.

how do you define development ? having a color TV or sumsung phone ??
I would say if every person of a place has clean water and food, sewage, and law and order..that is development...these things are lacking even in most cities. you can imagine the state of rural areas....
development is when you can go to police and lodge a complain without fear..is it possible ??

The colour TV scheme was the worst political propaganda in the history of politics, but it's apparent that it worked. A big shame. But the Dravidian parties, be it the DMK or the AIADMK have always worked for the industrial and infrastructure development of the state. The power and water crises are due to the geographical location of the state. The scarcity issue only comes out during summer or like in the past year when rainfall was much lesser than expected. These issued must be dealt on a larger scale; a national scale. Hence, the Dravidian parties are not to be blamed except for their corruption in terms of bribery, contract allocations and such. Believe me, I live in the Nilgiris, we are totally oblivious of the power crises. I wonder how they manage to keep us lighted up all the time when many districts are facing darkness of 18 hours and more! Law and order are not issues in the state. The Law College violence was again "internal politics". The High Court violence is sort or a "feud" between the police and lawers. Tamilnadu is the safest state in the country by any means and one of the most prosperous. It only needs a new political leadership. The current people are very corrupt.

Singh, you are talking like a anti-development neta. Who cannot praise his opponents for development.

Any kind of development is a addition to the society. If they are setting up Nokia, Motorola or any other company its not that they are offering cell phone and Ctv to localites. It develops the economy of that place by which many small and medium entrepreneurs get opportunities which gives rise to employment. Many small these companies come in they need adequate infrastructure which is to be done by local workers(again employment)...roads, water facilities, buildings, parks, local transport...everything is a addition...

When Tata Nano selected its location as singur its not that they wanted to offer Nano's to villagers..but the employment opportunities....

A local auto driver was making 1000Rs per day and now 300 after the factory was forced to move out....
