The author has claimed no constituency can be won on caste alone. His logic is that, the electorate in any constituency does not have majority of any single caste. I can show constituencies in Assam and Bengal which have Muslim dominance. Moreover, lower and middle castes vote en block. High caste and elite voters usually don't caste their vote in large numbers so their existence can be taken for granted
Also, the smaller castes will invariably be compelled to vote for the party with a caste with whom it is NOT in direct conflict

Advani never called Jinnah secular but only his speech of 1948 which promised freedom of religion to all its citizens. Advani de facto was pointing out the difference between the ideals of Jinnah and the genocidal ridden tendencies of modern day Pakistan which has a habit of butchering minorities.
For the record, Jinnah until 1937 was more secular than Nehru and Gandhi, both of whom were minority appeasers

No candidates can win without playing cast role. Today all indians know the 'Ability' of the politicians. No political no stick to the idoligy, means speak one thing doing exactly opposite in a short time period. Mean time political parties come up with a strategy to simphathyse certin cast or religion. So people obiously looking for the person who helps their community.
