A grossly exaggerated version showng India in poor light. As any one can see that there is substantial improvement in the quality of life of lower middle rung. Some time back the car is un thinkable comfort for that group. Now it is changed. The corruption ,freebies are the main drag on India's progress. Why should CONG develop cold feet in bringing back the money from foreign baks.Even the SC has expressed its displeasure over the luke warm attitude of the cong led govt. He admires Modi to some extent.OK. The muslims' perception of MODI is slowly changing .Only media keep the kettle boiling by not allowing the public to forget. As Modi correctly said they media traders. Instead of taking a totally pessismistic out look ,he must ignite the public like Dr Kalam. RN

I agree ... we need to be positive ... India is growing slowly and steadily .. we need to show a little bit of patience & not adapt extreme ways.

It is simple English and not what is/are happening under the influece of the politicians which has done no good to education health job-oppotunitiy,to the 'aam admi'. We don't have a leader but only have good man in the present PM.That does not work and has not worked since 15 Aug.,1947.We have not changed either or else you would have understood what Mr. Gupta meant. I do not agree with his comparison of Modi with Basu. Modi's Gujrat, his accomplishment is divegently opposite:juxtapose WB, against Gujrat - abest and a little less than worse! The financial capital of India has 70% population living in slums and rightly pointed by Mr.Gupta.we have an ostrich like attitude.Election is no more than a farce in WB,UP and Bihar for manipulations and true in some other states too but at a lesser degree! Many more elections will be required before Mr. Gupta can find the difference of the 'now India and then India. Will black change its hue!
The so called "liberals",social activists,NGOs,democracy lovers, anti feudals, seculars, etc etc ..are always talkng about peoples right, peoples verdict, peoples choice, peoples will.......etc.. But when people select some pro BJP fronts or parties or leaders through a 100% fair democratic process the allegation starts...caste,religeon,polarisation,democracy is immature....

60 Saal0 Mein Congress Ne Garibo Kee “Ga and” Maari 0r Mull0 Kee “Ga and” Chaati. Oh GOD !..Still both loves Congress and it’s action.
I am with Mr.Dipankar Gupta on the point made that in India "caste" is not the factor to win elections. But unfortunately the politicians position themselves as "saviours of their caste and clan". It is a delusion being suffered by almost all the politicians. In Tamilnadu, for instance, a caste group of "Pillais" is formed to protect their rights, under the name of V.O.Chidambaram Pillai", a great patriot and a freedom fighter of the late 19th / and early 20th century. He never fought for his caste against the British. I would rate him as a freedom fighter much above Mahathma Gandhi. The present day politicians would like to cash on deadmen's assets to build their political future. The best way to transform India and her youth is to inculcate a sense of pride in being an Indian. Let us not teach them Indian history from 1900 when Mahathma Gandhi made his appearence on the scene. How many Indians, leave alone the youth, know that way back in 1790's a great Indian ruler of a small province in Tamilnadu fought the British and held on till he was killed by deceit by people of his own clan? Congratulations to Mr.Gupta, for his well articulated thoughts.
Well-said Proff.Gupta .Are our Politician are listening? Thank you very much Rediff a good piece of Interview-An Eye Opener. What our Politician and Media are projecting is a shallow projection of India’s progress on world map. No one is interested in hard work and with professional attitude but interested to taste the cream of success.

besides be informed Dipankar Gupta is known pro commie/congi media agent.so take all his views keeping that in mind
Looks like author is a congress man (d 0 g) and just trying to balanced in his views to make himself acceptable by some confused biased views. Nothing different from the rest of the media, who are busy focusing Rahul (Rahul said this, Rahul said that, he wen to toilet, etc.) as Yuvraaj in every headline and once in a while flash the other news. Well I can say real development of Gujarath happened in 1000 BC.
