Chidambaram
by ramakrishnan balasubramanian on May 02, 2009 04:19 PM  | Hide replies

The country is doomed because of the trio of Manmohan Singh, Chidambaram and Ahluwalia. He and other Congress leaders may be big ones at Delhi but when it comes to Tamil Nadu they have to fall either at the feet of Karunidhi or Jaya. That's the state of affairs of people like Chidambaram, Mani Shankar Aiyar, Elangovan, Thangkabalu etc.etc. If these so called leaders stand on their own, they may not get the votes of even their extended family members not to speak of Public. If they stand on Hand symbol, they may get a few thousand vots but sure to forfeit their deposit. And these leaders have neither kept the interests of the country nor the state in mind and their time in Tamil Nadu is spend on fighting with each other and looking after vested interests in Delhi. Whenever the Congress comes to power in Delhi the prices of essential commodities shoot up. It is strange and ironic. Whether DMK wins or AIADMK wins, the people of Tamil Nadu should ensure that all the sixteen Congress Lok Sabha candidates are defeated in this election. The Congress has played a double game on Sri Lanka. Except for Late Rangarajan Kumaramangalam who later switched over to BJP and to some extent Mani Shankar Iyer, no other leader from Congress has contributed to the growth of Tamil Nadu in any way.

Your reply is nothing but a joke. To take care of the welfare of the people, you donot need educated people. You need people with passion and service for poor. Kamaraj was not educated but his policies benefited lakhs and lakhs of people. MGR was not educated but his policy of noon meal scheme today is in practice not only in Tamil Nadu but also through out the country. You have not answered why there is price rise whenever Congress is at the helm. A leader means with genuine followers. In case of Manmohan Singh and Chimdabaram they themselves are followers of Sonia Gandhi and Karnunidhi and how can you call them Leaders. A vibrant democracy needs solid leaders who have risen from grass root and who can understand peoples' problems and that is missing today not only in Congress but also in all other parties.

Srilankan Mess.....
by varghese on May 02, 2009 04:14 PM  | Hide replies

LTTE has none to blame save Prabakaran who let down his own People as well as those who supported his cause ie Indians..

Prabakaran killed our own Prime Minister and caused havoc in India..its an well known fact that the LTTE has links with ISI and is helping the seperatists in India..huge quantity of arms which were captured by the Indian army nation wide have LTTE markings upon it..

Surely we support Elam but not at the cost of Violence,Terrorism,Killing of our PM,helping other terrorist orgs.

We want Prabakaran hanged from red fort..nothing short of it..Elam was an reality when India supported it but not now for the snake has started to bite the hand which fed her..in short we want the whole LTTE disbanded and tried for Terrorism..we still love the Srilankan Tamils they can come back to India or settle down in their own places..India is always the best place come back..LTTE has hijacked ur goal and Elam now is an closed chapter..

Typical congress leader
by Amit Sen on May 02, 2009 03:56 PM  | Hide replies

Chidambaram does not answer how in his party's rule rice price went up from Rs. 10 per Kg to Rs. 24 per Kg. or that of sugar from Rs. 15 to Rs. 25. When Sensex was falling inexorably, he continued to advise people to stay invested because he had decoupled Indian economy from the Western. Finally poor Indian investors have been doomed. The only thing that got decoupled was Chidambaram from finance ministry. His collusion with DMK in putting the bradband mega scandal under cover alone is enough to know this politician.

Had PC's wish to allow 51% foreign equity in banks, our banks would also hv gone bankrupt. Similarly, he also wanted PF money to b invested in shares. All the money would hv got vanished, as share prices went down from 21000 to 8500.

On both these counts Left saved us.

Rs. 2 per KG for PDS effectively translates to Rs.60 per kilo at retail outlets. At least 2/3rds of the rice being sold through PDS at Rs.1 or Rs.2 per kilo sells at Rs.20 a kilo. Its high quality rice thats being diverted to the PDS. I wonder where it eventually ends up. Wonder if it makes it to the stomachs of starving, BPL Indians or back into the granaries of rice merchants, hoarders and wholesalers.

A bowl of toffees is placed before him at Selagai village. But he overlooks the temptation and talks about how he has waived agricultural loan and provided educational loan to the people of his constituency. As the crowd nod their heads in approval, he moves over to what sops "Kalaignar" (Karunanidhi's popular name) has provided during his tenure rice at Re 1 per kilo and free colour TV, among others. But he doesn't even utter a word on the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils at the
two roadside meetings where Business Standard was present.

At Managiri, Sebastian and Francis have high praise for his development work but feel Chidambaram has "betrayed" the people on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
