Black Money
by paloalto on Apr 05, 2009 10:20 PM

These figures are highly speculative as the Swiss Bank is still quiet on this issue. Only if the Swiss Bank could seal all accounts having links to citizens of india and nri's under pressure from the govt. of india, which is highly unlikely to happen.

why worry about swiss bank accounts!?
by becker on Apr 05, 2009 10:13 PM

Let Modi & Co explain how each and every BJP candidate earned his wealth. That'll set example for Congress and others. Every candidate is declaring staggering sum as wealth and Modi doesn't talk about this amount. Let him first start asking Sharadh Pawar's daughter on how she earned 52 crores?.

Make a proper promise.

Let BJP declare that in the next budget income-tax will be abolished.

If the BJP is so sure about getting the money, they can afford to make this promise.
We dont want any empty promise. Let them talk about the benifit to all.

Black money in various Tax heavens.

The black money in foreign banks are definitely of no use for the country. It will be time taking and a dificult job. There is no guarenty that all the money could be traced out and brought back to India. The easiest way will be to give incentive to the individuals who brings back the black money to India, under certain time limit. It is true that individuals involved in depositing black money in foreign banks have committed henious crime, but simulteneously our policies of Taxation is itself conducive to a great extent for such acts.(i) I think it will be nice if concession are given to evadors to bring back the money.(ii) The taxation should be rectified so that such a practice of black money should not be economical and it should be more attractive to invest such money in India itself. (iii) The Commission to decide taxation should be headed by eminent economist from various universities.
Unless taxation is made easy and practical the deposit of black money out of country will not stop. In the name of developing country very often all type of taxation are raisaed to such high amount that it becomes conducive to adopt tax evasion. This practice is a great loss for the country. Only corrupt staff of various department involved in taxation are benifitted at the cost of the Nation.

Pseudo Democracy - Indians are the most naive citizens in the world. What we have is not real democracy and corrupt who are less than 1% have misled 99% gullible Indians for long. Doesnot matter if you are communal or not, rich or poor, pro congress or pro BJP, corrupt are in all aprties - let us join hands to get this money back. If Advani is conducting a mock referendum on this topic tomorrow, let us participate enmasse and vote for getting this money back as rarely you will get one more opportunity like this from any politician. BY this act, we can also strive towards true democracy by raising the bar for all political parties

will bjp resort to referendum for every thing?
by Devdutt Nayak on Apr 05, 2009 09:55 PM  | Hide replies

they are masters of promising something and then *not* delivering for the entire term aftewards - Ram Mandir, Common Civil Code, tough line against terror - Kandahar, Advani admiring Jinnah and apologising in his hometown (something I can personally never *ever* forgive), George Fernandes getting himself strip-checked, while even the old man Somnath Chatterjee refused to attend when due respect and dignity was not offered to him, coffin scandal (where Kargil soldiers' coffins were used to make black money), the only reasonably sized Govt in the world *ever* to formally have a disinvestment meinistry to sell off national assets to American and European MNCs for good.
If that "old witch" Indira had not nationalised banks, today, the US banking disaster would have taken us along with it - the Congress did *not* privatise the nationalised banks, even though everyone said MMS was a "sellout" reformer - only those things that were cancerous were divested - unlike BJP - that set up a ministry for just selling the nation. Had BJP been in power, India would be in desperate poverty today - much worse than the gloom due to the current economic disaster - and the people behind this disaster are the big bankers who BJP flirted with so much - Citibank, in particular.
Truly, the Citi never sleeps because of the hunger and pain it produces. Every kid in US now hates the MNCs that BJP boot-licked.
That speaks volumes of their economic foresight. Also the rollback ministry of Yashwant Sinha.

Not to mention that global warming is making every summer hotter and even more torturous and because of their Petrol Pump Party takeover, they would not allow Mahindra Bijlee to run in cities and towns, inspite of the fact that it was 100% usable in 2000. I used to travel to office for 6 months and it just needed recharging overnight - it was public transport because I sat with 7 other people and it was not government owned and so it created much more earning opportunities than a centralised public transport. Now we have all the petrol pumps under the control of BJP hooligans and Congress cannot enforce the clean vehicle policy because everywhere there will be riots if they try to.
Congress has for its part already introduced soleckshaw - a soalr rickshaw for poor human rickshaw pullers - and I doubt Congress has nothing to do with Tata Nano - which is the best thing to happen to rural and semi urban transport because you can fit new engines if you like, Ratan Tata is not going to askf or a license - can LK Advani promise cheaper electricity charging from his 100os of BJP Petrol Pumps?
Come on Advani, promise that, with a signed statement on lkadvani.in - that you will replace the Petrol Pumps with electric charging stations.
I challenge him to do that.

We all sat through his interview at Rediff and he answered only a few of the questions - we have a big list of the questions he did not answer - should we expose that list?
Force doesnt work just before elections, mind you

The first that is done when you join a new company is to provide you with a badge and an email account.

The first thing that is done when someone joins congress is to create a swiss bank account.

Black money stashed in swiss bank
by sreenivasan ramasubramanian on Apr 05, 2009 09:34 PM

It augurs well for india that a politician himself has raised this issue. This is the right time to pressurise the swiss bank to abrogate such a provision of helping the ill gotten money being kept in their Bank.

Four years back while discussing this issue one of my colleague was mentioning that the amount if available now would be sufficient to run five year planning expenditure for five terms. This indicates the enormity of the corpus being kept in the Bank.
When poverty is prevailing, when hungger deaths also take place, when ppeople sleep on foot path for want of shelter, when the poor farmers commit suicide due to losses and loan burden our politicians do all these nasty things and again come with folded hands for votes. The people again vote for them.Whom are to blame?
Show the path of exit to such politicians.
