by Ajhay waghmare on Mar 18, 2009 11:12 AM  | Hide replies

Democracy means Majority should rule, whearas in Coalition Era, the Smallest party having no national recognition dictate terms of our national & foriegn Policy.
a constitutional amendment is required to stop this nonsense.
But, Who will bell the cat?

Can You define Secularism, by the way?

When Mayawwati opens her mouth she talks only about caste, religion... Secularism is about respecting and treating everyone equaally and you are dreaming about secularism in mayawatis's govt! huh!

Essence of Democracy
by Pramod Srivastava on Mar 18, 2009 11:10 AM  | Hide replies

Dear Readers,
I think, Article has jumped the guns.
Let us analyze, the pros and cons of Third Front / Like Groups.
PROS:
1. Creation of Third front reflects the true essence of Democracy. In Democracy anybody / any group has the liberty to come together and share a common platform.
2. Countries like ours are still evolving socially. During evolution, it is bound to give birth to new parties at regional levels, representing social cause. 3. Indian Democracy should not be governed by only two- three Top parties only. That may give room for abuse of power. 4. If such front are successful, they may change the whole paradigm of National politics. 5. Such groups, will always keep the Leading National parties on toes.
CONS:
1. Third front like groups may not have common acceptable program. 2. Such kind of groups may be just a eyewash, to bargain, with the leading parties. Before election and after election.3. In absence of common acceptable Leadership, they may fail to deliver. 4. Such more groups may come to fore and create confusion in theater of Elections.5. Such groups, if not mature enough may spoil the very essence of democracy. By indulging in horse trading etc. etc.
CONCLUSION:
Strong Opposition is a very essential factor of Strong Democracy. We should welcome anybody, who has willingness and ability to govern us.As a mature democracy, we should give CHANCE to everybody. And after that we can punish him or reward him, depending upon the performance.

Regards,

Well said, Pramod.Characteristics of good democracy is strong opposition and stable rulling.Speaking about Third front, look at the guys involved in this front the whole country knows their deeds and the voter this time is definitely going to teach a good lesson to this front.Every one among them is an aspirant for the chair of the PM,is a single candidate of this front is capable of being a PM of country like India ?? Most of the guys are tainted, currupt, selfish and greedy and the whole nation is aware of this. My calculations say Cong and allies have better chances if the infighting in BJP is not controlled in time.Plus guys like Varun,Muthalik, thogadia are further tarnishing the image of a capable party like BJP.As of now NDA looks to be the runner up, they have to really catch up fast Third front is far behind as of now and I hope they remain so or get set for next general election by end 2010,poor tax payers 1000 crores will be spent again, Watch Out !!!!!

This is not essense of democracy but mockery. The front do not have any agenda other than a clarion call for fighting some invisible forces which is the essense of communism. They always fight the invisible forces which had appeared before their leaders hundreds of years ago. Rest of them are power monkers. There is a leader will invariably become a cabinet minister whatever may the party in power. Such a conglomeration of third rated hoodlums can never be the essense of democracy.

Secured future ....Like the CPI - M, they create a massacre in Nandigram and when people oppose it Comrade Brinda karat says" People who are against government action in Nandigram must be administered as dose of DAM DAM DAWAI ( MOB LYNCHING)".
Yeah sure....CPI M
1. Formed during 1962 war with China
2. CPI-M was formed as they felt that the party must support China, they reasoned that this is fight between Communism and Capitalism, so China must get their support.

So much for patriotism....LAAL BANDAR....

Where will he fight from?

This time around they under the twin threat of TMC and BJP in Bengal / Kerala.

As a matter of fact Karat and the commie thugs, do not want Mayawati to grow further, they dont want BSP to be a national party, hence they agree to whatever she asks for.
No wonder Mayawati dint take the bait as commonsense prevailed on her that 3 rd front is Kaput with her, 3rd front cannot form a government without BJP or CON party.
Mayawati does believe in using her common sense.
Karat is a morn

THE THIRD FRONT
by sethu madhavan on Mar 18, 2009 11:00 AM  | Hide replies

There is more to it in the launch of third front. The timing of the same is very much indicative of oppurtunism. It is very well known that the party is a failure, bereft of truth and legitmacy and a product of evil objectives. The above proposition will well be accepted in their heart by the founders of the same. There is more to it than meets the eye. This becomes more obvious when one looks into reactions to the same. By co-incidence the ruling party whose downright refusal to the acceptance of this dubious force seem to make it share dias with the evil and opportunistic BJP. Infact one does not know why BJP who lack legitimacy and stand for oppurtunism should object to the formation of this front?.

Thus the launch of the front seems to be a cunning ploy of communal forces to make it seem to the voter that the evil and illegitimate BJP shares the virtue and truth. The ruling party would be at the best of its common sense to avoid any naivete decisions that would result in its inadvertently becoming partner to evil BJP and help promote its duplicitous agenda. One good rejoinder would be to recall former PM Lal bahadur sastri’s observation on the evil RSS chief rjju bhayya that ” if he shook hands with him(rajju) then congressmen would think he quit congress, leftists would think he joined the “right” “. So deliberate and cunning are these liars that if given a chance they will prove that sun rises in the west.

Typical left bashing - Accept political reality
by Opinion on Mar 18, 2009 10:59 AM  | Hide replies

Instead of bashing at left, we have to accept political reality. I used to be anti-left couple of years but the recent economic, Imperlialistic and global events is making me to lean towards them. Whatever they have projected is becoming a reality now. Why cant we give a ear to the third front initiative?

All these questions that Shenoy has put here apply for both NDA and UPA. Though NDA has been projecting LKA, what about common program that every constituent subscribes. (BJP doesnt even subscribe to its own members, Varun or the 'broker' Jaitly). Except Gujarat and Karnataka, they are not force anymore and anywhere.

Congress is still in a pathetic stage with presence in Andhra and Rajasthan. Lalu gave congress what it is due for.

All national parties are only regionalised parties.
Regional parties with identity to each state/culture is not going to harm Indian integrity in anyway. (Consider the double standards of national parties in state issues like Cauvery, North Indian origin etc)

Mr.Opinion, Do you think the 3rd front could have even handled Mumbai attacks? Do you think DeveGowda Could have sat and negotiated Nuclear Deal with US? Do you think Deve Gowda, Mayawati are capable of taking strong decesions, thier track record shows they are good in petty politicking and nothign else...? Thier decesion making is limited to politics and personally I can't trust them taking decisons for my country....

By this I am not saying UPA handled Mumbai well or NDA would have handled better... atleast UPA/NDA has some statesmen in their line up and they have handled the situtation in a sensible way if not the best way!

Internal Fightings will exist everywhere, dont we compalin about conflicts in our workplace! How do you expect conflicts not happenign in Big organisations like this... its not a big deal!

Regional Parties Do definitely harm a Nation's Soverignity, because they promote regionalism... Regionalism is the 3rd Most biggest worry for India after Terrorism and Corruption in this country... It seems like we havent learnt lessons from history that if we keep infighting like this.... we will have to face external threats... if not a 200 yr slavery from Other rulers...

Hail Bipolar Politics....
