Dalit PM and end BJP-Congress nexus
by D S on May 01, 2009 01:48 AM

Advani will stand in good stead if he favour Dalit PM and she will work out some arrangement where Advani's gesture properly honoured.

Mayawati should be given a chance. It would reflect well on India and show how far we have come along.

She has done crazy things but the responsibility of Prime Ministership and the coalition rule will bear down on her shoulder to behave.

I do not like dynasty in a democracy. Any one, other than dynastic rule will be great for India. In that process if Mayawati gets ahead it should be okay. She appears quite pragmatic. I think it would be great for India to have a Dalit.

(Maya - be inclusive. Include everyone. Ask your speech writers to look at some speeches given by Obama and copy some of the the same tone. You should be on your way to becoming PM. And then hire educated intelligent people for the cabinet. Good luck and Godspeed.)

Indeed these are ideal expectations BUT from a pathetically wrong person.
She seem to be more intersted in gathering unlimited chanda (donation) from literally everybody and making her stupid statues every where. She responds to a person only when he/she bows down in front of her and touches her feets and tends to destroy the person if he/she dosnt follow this custom. She orders 'transferss more then offer some responsible taske to a qualified person. The toppers of the one of the toughest exam in the world, IAS, are behaving like kittens in front of her and this is because she expects the same. With no national agenda in her manifesto she is only interested in grabbing the top seat of biggest democracy on the Earth called INDIA.

You make good points.

I am hoping she will learn to be inclusive and respect educated intelligent people. It appears like she will get to the top post only if there is coalition government.

If she does not give and take respect. The coalition will break. That is why she needs to read up on Obama who included everyone. The whites voted for him in huge numbers too because of his inclusive quality.

You are comparing Apples and Oranges, or rather an Apple to a Potato ! Obama ran for the president's post with an inclusive developmental agenda and never spoke of, nor does he now, of favoring one particular cast/creed/race. Mayavati on the other hand is highly biased only to favor Dalits, and that too just PseudoDalitism, if i may call it. She just pretends to be working for them, in reality does nothing for them. It is another reality that i believe that people who call some others Dalits or themselves Dalit are spreading castism, so she is the cluprit. People should be treated on the basis of their capability and their economic status in today's times, and not just on caste.

This report i think is a bit flawed, in the sense that it just is calculating the probability based on the number of possible govt. forming combinations, and assuming that in that combination Mayavati will be the PM. Its silly !!! You should also look at the probability of the combination coming true... which will reduce the chances of Mayavati becoming the PM drastically.

akchatte- Voo roo naaheey raaha, he is in for $2.1 billion dollar
by D S on May 01, 2009 01:46 AM  | Hide replies

akchatte- Rahul/Sonia/Priyanka > Voo roo naaheey raaha, they are in for $2.1 billion dollar being safe in his Swiss and many other account and getting more from Indian public once they place their puppets.

Don't know how many more of MP and small parties they will try to swindle and buy.

To the Author about Maya - SHE IS VERY much like Obama, if Indian conciousness has risen like USA and we have direct election of PM (not via the ticket sold MPs and trashy parliamentry system). She/Maya would be voted to power with similar thumping majority like that of USA in India.
Maya should take measures to ensure rights of Dalits are provided and quota being eventually phased out to bring Dalit to level of everyone.

I think Maya should be given a chance too. It would reflect well on India.

She is young and she seems to be a quick learner. I think she will strive to be a inclusive PM.

Mr DS do u understand untill there is no COMMONALITY in community there CAN never be a consolidated unifirm progress of everybody. By introducing the caste based reservation no one is going to benifit except for the petty Mayawati who will gain more seats, steal more money and make more statue of her own which wud, I am scared, defeate Saddam's statue in numbers.

You find the right people around her to make things right by her.
When Dalits are given the rights, you will see another kind of storm, if you are intelligent, you will figure it out.

I will be glad if in worst case she comes in power there are right people present by her side to make her behave in constructive manner. But there'sno way I m going to agree that she wud appoint the people who will focus on work rather then saluting her or find out ways to keep her in power.

Congress is not coming back to power & Mayawati is not getting more than 30 seats, so all the assumptions of this author are wrong.

I dont want to see this elephant become the Prime Minister of India. I think it is high time Congress project Rahul Gandhi and BJP project Narendra Modi as their Primeministerial Candidates. We need someone who can take India to the top and I stongly feel that either Rahul or Modi are capable of taking India to new heights. We dont need Maya's and Jaya's who alway indulge in vendetta or hate politics.

Mayawati will not become PM
by ashish tiwari on May 01, 2009 01:24 AM  | Hide replies

Mayawati will not become PM becuase of her past. She has made everyone her enemy and her backers in CPM are in for great trouble and it would be surprising if they even manage to get 30 MPs in Parliament. 25 in WB 5 in Kerela and 5 extra is my estimate. No one will allow her to become PM not even BJP if they remember what happened in UP!!

Caste
by lukose vj on May 01, 2009 01:04 AM  | Hide replies

I propose:

Abolish all castes by law;

Make asking about ones caste and speaking about ones own caste or anyone's caste, orally or in writing anywhere in India in any context a non-bailable offence punishable with a long term of imprisonment;

Omit any mention of caste from all application forms for government, pubic sector and private sector jobs, and from documents of any description that is used in India.

Any takers?

Totally agree wid ur punch line.
Adding my own thoughts...
Indian people , specially polititians are still obsessed by the regionality and caste. Worst thing, somebody added the term 'system' after 'caste' making it caste-system, making an illsionary effect that it is indeed some sort of system mandatory to be followed in India. Instead of making education and poverty on the top priority some people are only in zest of capitalizing the CASTE concept for their petty sefish reasons.Still need 2 or 3 generations to literally understand the necessity of following a Uniform-Identity code where people are recognized by their caste or reagion or status BUT by their CAPABILITY and Unique-ness.

In fact the opposite has been done by our politicians. They are not interested to eradicate caste system from our society they just want to play broker by legitimating the caste system so that they can set their equations according to the vote banks.
Congress has been using it as a tool to keep mainstream of India which is Hindu, divided
