Common civil law
by kumar kumar on Apr 08, 2009 08:32 PM  | Hide replies

It is is the BJP or the Sangh parivar which is clamouring for common civil law for all religions. Their message to people of all religions living in India is 'First be a nationlist, your religion comes second'. It is funny that politicians from from congress whether they are young, sauve and educated that they talk of secular India while pandering to minorities having taken the majority for granted. This is the very party that massaccred the sikhs in New Delhi for some misled sikhs having assassinated Indira Gandhi. Unforntunately the nationalists in the country are being named as communalists and the real communalists are calling them selves secularists. The Congress have redfined the word 'secularism', it means pandering to minorities as if they are guests in this country and they need special treatment.

There exists GENEVA CONVENTION ON ETHNIC MINORITIES that India and hundreds of other democratic countries are signatory to.

As per this convention, "Ethnic Minorities Rights can not be taken away even by Democratic Majority Vote process"

In Other words, Special Ethnic Minority Rights are like their Fundamental rights. These rights listed under convention are:

1. Right to En-Bloc voting
2. Right to Minority Education Institutions
3. Right to Personal Laws, traditions and customs

These priviledges can not be subjected to banning even thru parliamentary voting process; which otherwise is the very basis of democratic rule.

We do see healthy application of this concept in India as well. For example, Sikhs have their own parties like Akali Dal. They have SGPC to govern their religious places. They have their own educational institutions like Khalsa College which has Sikh Dominated Management

However, Indiam Muslims have always been denied same rights thanks to COMMUNAL politics of INDIA

As per UN (GENEVA CONVENTION ON ETHNIC MINORITIES) Muslims cannot be classified as Minority as Muslims constitute more than 5% in India. To be classified as Minority the community has to be less than 5%.

Muslims being classified as Minority in India by Congress is purely Appeasement politics.

some religion's personal laws are archaic and barbaric. You cannot get rid of your wife by uttering talaq thrice havin enjoyed her. You cannot have guys marry as many women as you want and maintain a harem in these modern days.

Young chap cursing "divisive politics"..ha..ha...ha

Nothing surprising. Like all Congressi's he will see fault only with Hindu organizations.

With all due respect to his Boston (or was it Harward?) degree, he doesn't know who divided India at the first place and why was Hindu right wing born.

I don't know which faith he follows but he can just take a look at the population growth rates along regional and communal lines to see why some communities and regions are angry with the system.

Opportunist organizations like the Shiv Sena thrive on people's grievances, real or imagined.

Mr. Deora, better study before speak.

ghareebo ke nagar me jab bhi katl-e-aam hota hai
tumhare baazuo me husn lab par jaam hota hai
tumhare hi isharo pe chaman me aag lagti hai
tumhare kaarnamo se badan me aag lagti hai
tumhe hindu se hamdardi na matlab hai musalma se
wafa ka dars gita se liya tumne na quraan se
magar mazhab ka naam aajaye to naare lagate ho
yaha dairo haram ke naam se jhagde karate ho
chalaya jangali khanoon insano ki basti me
gire hai mandir-o-masjid tumhari sarparasti me
mai shayar hoon jo dekhonga har baar likhunga
