Kambli
by yahoo on Jul 10, 2017 02:32 PM  | Hide replies

Kambli is an example of a dalit who came into the indian team. There are many yadavs who are backward castes in the team. The reason the representation is low, is because players like kambli think they are kings and don't have the discipline to work hard. Umesh yadav worked hard, and so he is in the team.

The statistics given in this article has a lot of old data from 60s and 70s when india was a weak team. Take only the data from 1995 onwards and see what are the statistics.

And reservation and inclusion are two very different things. you don't need reservations to achieve inclusion. You need education and discipline, which unfortunately the dalits don't care about.

Amnesty International - a bogus NGO

These elite hi-fi speaking people who are media savvy, always try to mis-lead the readers with their perverted views. This guy only comparing South Africa with India; why not other countries. By writing such cheap article; he is demeaning the contributions of legend cricketers. There are/were many great players India has produced. What is important is all such selected players shall play as one unit.

Reservation like corruption and pollution is always disastrous because reservation in any field on the basis of caste & community is insult
to hard work,ability and dedication,beneficiaries
must think twice that just on the basis of reservation and so called social justice, they are doing great injustice to fellow citizens,
on the contraty they should ask the politicians to provide better & adequate facilities in every
nook and corner of nation so all will have equal chance to compete & succeed.

Polticiand and their stooges love to raise reservation to get vote in lot and get the power
and then make money in any possible way, just keep on chanting reservation, reservation, long this worked in this nation but now should stop.

sucking..

This really bad idea to have reservations in sports. This is actually time to come out of this reservations at all levels and every walk of life.

Reservations initially planned for 10 years.
It was extended every 10 years and now for 60 years if not done good or upliftment then what is the logic to continue.

Politicians if they want let them have reservations in politics. Let them allot more funds for their education and upliftment etc. But let them not reserve where talent is required.

Agree with you.Athawale have instead asked for scrapping of caste based reservations. After 70 years of independance some thought should be give in this direction

cricket should be alive

At the end of the day cricket should be alive. It is already dying in many countries and any move to make it unpopular will make it vanish.

"But it hides the reality of discrimination and exclusion."

whos stopping any dalit from performing well and being selected ? instead of reservations why dont the likes of athavale etc create NGO or goverment support for schorlaships for talented dalit players ?

As the writer himself mentioned blacks form 80% of population in S.A(and only 2 players reserved ) while sc/st form only 25% in india. There have been plenty of OBC players in cricket i believe. Also S.A has only recetnly emerged out of apartheid while we have reservations being given at so many levels for 70 years....INfact one would think that after atleast 3-4 generations of reservation there would be a huge pool of sc/st who are well off . In cities caste doesnt matter, ony economic status matters in day to day activities . The only place it finds mentions is during marraige decisions.

Would also like to point out that after 3-4 generaions of reservation there would be millions of sc/st who have had access to status, education and economic prosperity PUTTING THEM AT PAR with any general candidate.... But it is these sc/st in creamy layer and not the really deprived sc/st who will get benefit of reservation...is that fair ??? both to general cateory ppl and to their own more deprived dalit bothers/sister .

It is time now to slowly reduce reservation by 1 % every year and to limit it to families who have not used it in previous generaton. It would still take 50 years to be removed totally thus allow
