Turn around by Ravi Shastri.
by ramesh chandra agrawal on Aug 22, 2014 01:04 PM

It seems that there are only two competent Ex-cricketers in India i.e. Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gawaskar. They are dirty politicians and paid employees of BCCI to defend them at any cost.Ravi Shastri was not more than a average cricketor. If his is so competent,he should take the responsibilty of Australian tour and give the result to win the series which is not possible. The commentry by ravi and gavaskar is not worth listening due to the reasons known to every one.The popularty of cricket is dwindling due to bunch of jockers in BCCI and selectors.

HOPE R/SHASTRI HELPS OPTIMIZE AVAILABLE RESOURCES
by damodaran mohan on Aug 21, 2014 05:47 PM

Question is w/o Ravi Shastri intervention could the team have turned around the one dayers ? Looks difficult considering the batting weaknesses in the English conditions. Only Dhoni with assistance from lower order batters is expected to make some mark with the bat and there is a big question mark on likes of Virat,Dhawan,Rohit, Rahane etc.We can only hope Ravi Shastri will be able to make them apply better where Dhoni failed.Ground fielding and catching is expected to improve for sure with the new staff taking over.Sir Jadeja will be the key in the fielding. We can only hope Shastri helps Jadeja psychologically overcome the Anderson issue setbacks.Dhoni’s poor handling aggravated and somewhat demoralized jadeja. Bowling: Selectors leaving out Varun Aron is beyond comprehension. B/Kumar certainly needs some rest if not for the entire series atleast for couple of matches. It remains to be seen how well Dhoni optimizes use of Pacer all-rounders like D/Kulkarni, Binny etc. along with a strengthened spin deptt !With Ravi Shastri around we can only hope all the bowlers will be put to best use instead of keep flogging B/Kumar all the way.Pacers’ performance in the first 10 overs PP and towards death bowling together with spin attack efficacy in the middle overs will decide India’s fate.

BCCI should think of legends like Jacques Kallis, Brian Lara to resurrect Indian Cricket.

The Indian team will do better in overseas only when BCCI stops paying too, too, too much as contract whether playing well or not.The only way is to give them only very, very, very less amount as salary and the remaining as performance allowances. If they don't perform no large amount as performance allowances. Also they should keep for only two matches without performing in the eleven after that they will be replaced. And finally BCCI or the selectors to make different overseas pitches in India and ask them to play.

Namo should be involved
by Ravi Nayak on Aug 21, 2014 11:50 AM

As PM of India Namo should be concerned the way cricket is being played by Dhoni & company in the chalta hai attitude. Amit shah should be appointed administrator of the team, Subramanium swamy should be the spokesperson of the team, Mani shanker ayier should be chayi wala or drinks man if you want to call it so. Bablu gandhi will be women's empowerment support staff, to bring in women into the team as they have done better than men. As coach we need the services of man mohan singh-as he is the ideal team leader demonstrated by leading 1billion people for 10 years without opening his mouth.

Whats lacking is discipline
by JERRY on Aug 20, 2014 03:28 PM

Just look at Ravi Shastri's paunch, let him get some discipline and fittness into his own life first and then try and take on improving that of 14 others!

I doubt Ravi Shastri is a team man. He is a trouble shooter of all the mess that happens in bcci, icci, ipl etc etc and a right hand man of Srinivasan in all these ... Indian team needs a man who mix with each one by being a down to earth person who understands the sentiments , feelings of each member. Ravi is a highflying moderator of the mighty bcci ipl band.

U r right. As a player Ravi Shastri was mediocre player, who should thank Mr Sunil Gavaskar, who brought him in the national team, because he was Mumbaite. Moreover what are his credential as a coach - a big zero -. Just because he is YES MAN of BCCI, he gets into BCCI's scheme of things.
