doubt whether ambati rayudu is a good inclusion . at his age , the team could have included a better alternate than him in younger promising players like Indian under 19 captain Zol or U Chand etc who are promising players with a future
i know he is a good player but his attitude will create problumes in the team . who is he to critisise ms dhoni. when ms dhoni was selected as capton this gambheer was not in the team . ms d has given chance to gambheer insted of dravid. then useless polititioncritisised ms d for taking the match up to last over. who is he to say those things.
Zaheer...Zaheer..Zaheer...it seems all round clamor has been heard ...by selectors and Zaheer restored for Tests! Now the ball is in Zaheer's court to come up to the expectations and produce a glimpse of his old form. Although going by his form in the domestic cricket, it has not been all that great but given the efforts he put in getting back his fitness and form he certainly deserves this opportunity to prove himself. Moreover the inexperienced pace attack will get an experienced leader which will be very useful in SA soil. However it will be real Test for him given the past visuals of Zaheer ambling out clutching his calf muscle in England last time around. His next foray in the England Home series was also not very fruitful. Given the importance being given to youngsters, Zaheer will have to prove both his form and fitness in SA or else he could as well join the Sachin club. Our best wishes. Now coming to omission of Gambhir, too much is made out of a very logical decision.Considering that lot of Test cricket awaits, Gambhir will certainly have his chances if he shows consistency.Taking him to SA for just 2 Tests doesn't make much sense because Murali Vijay or S/Dhawan can’t be dropped just after failing in one Test. Should they fail in SA there is 50-50 chances of Gambhir replacing them. Why make such a hue and cry for nothing ?
Probable test team & analysis to bat against Steyn, Philandar, Morkel, Abbott, Kleinveldt, in fast and bouncy pitch and to bowl Smith, Amla, De villiers, Kalis & Du plesis. Dhawan – No abroad exp. in fast pitches, but no alternative as Sehwag in bad form. Support of exp. opener like Gambhir would be better. Vijay- Avg. in fast pitches abroad I 12.5 with no 50 at all. Gambhir would be better. Pujara-Avg. 10 in fast pitches abroad, but no alternative. Lets hope. Kohli- No argument or replacement. Rohit- Lets hope. Can fail in fast & bouncy pitches. Dhoni- Avg. in fast & bouncy pitches is 29.2 and in SA 35.8. Ashwin- Can bat a little bit, but spin will not work. 9 wkts in 5 innings abroad in fast pitch. Zaheer- Can’t bowl 10 overs continuously. Injury prone. Shami- Promishing Kumar- Promishing Yadav/Sharma- No variation. No recent performance.
SA India === ======= Smith Rohit Sharma Amla Kohli De Villiers Pujara Kallis Dhoni Du Plessis Rayudu
Philander Kumar Steyn Shami Morkel/De Lange Zaheer Petersen Ashwin
SA has very slight edge in sheer pace - but otherwise India better everywhere.
I mean how are the Saffies going to match the brilliance of Kohli, Pujara and Rohit Sharma with Smith, Amla, De Villiers, Faf? Not going to happen... Right?

Saffie bowlers getting nightmares at the thought of bowling to Kohli and Pujara. Right?
Saffie batsmen getting similar nightmares about Shami and Kumar. Especially ABDV and Faf and Amla. Right?

as far wicketkeeping is concerned Saha is far better than Patel or Karthik. Why you r questioning inclusion of Ishant Sharma?

Kohli has scored only in ODIs and that too on flat lifeless pitches. Vijay is taken for tests and he has better record (4 centuries in 12 tests) than Dhawan, Gambhir or any opener's record. Pujara failed once in SAfrica, but should be better now.

What do you mean by better record than Gambhir or any operer? Vijay has an overall avg. of 38.2 and Gambhir has 44.2 with mush more centuries and fifties showing who is better. As the test will be abroad, in SA, in fast and bouncy pitches, now Vijay has an avg. of 12.5 in fast and bouncy pitches abroad in 4 tests with no fifty at least and Gambhir has an avg. of 40.3 in 12 tests in fast and bouncy pitches abroad with 5 fifty and 2 centuries.
