You are absolutely right.Why lower the standard of such a great award? Sachin is a multi-billionaire and has never played for the country. BCCI is a private body playing for profit. Tomorrow the award will be given to even Amitabh Bachchan. What do these celebrities do? Except earn money for themselves?

very well said shubhintak. It is very sad that our people and media are still crazy about IPL and cricket, even after our cricketers and team officials are caught for their different types of fixing matches. Our cricketers play IPL with all sorts of injury but they don't want to play for India. Only within INDIA, our cricketers can play some level(mostly captain). But outside of India, it is very horrible performance most of the time. They go just tour using Govt. money. In addition, they fight for captaincy after playing few years and do so much politics among themselves. just 10 countries are playing. So it is time to forget most corrupted and laziest game called as cricket and focus on other active and individual events rather than team events such as badminton, tennis, athletics, swimming etc., so that India could get as many as medals from Olympics and other international events.

With full respect to Sachin & the game of cricket an Englishman said "Cricket is a game where 22 fools are watched by 22000 fools." The irony is cricket originated in England. This game drives the economy in India, legally & illegally, hence it is more famous than any other game of India. In 2011 when Maharashtra was facing water crisis it was advertised that Sachin is using only 1 bucket of water for bathing purpose and now when whole of India is facing inflated price of basic item like onions & potatoes, why it is not informed how much is he eating the same ?

I think it is just a congress game. It is too early for Mr.Tendulkar to be conferred Bharat Ratna. There are many more legends in this country who deserves similar awards.

how many indians know there is a chess player called Anand...who plays the A$$ lifting game called Chess...not even 3% of indians know who is anand and what he achieved...ok he is a great player...but has he thrilled the billions of people...such a boring game...
1. Patel, Ambedkar, Subhas did not get Bharat Ratna during Congress regime. They got it during Janta Party Government. 2. Atal B Bajpai has to wait for it to get it when a BJP government forms.
