but there is a point to look into.... sachin started playing as opener only from 70th match.. till that he was playing middle order sometimes 6th sometimes 7th etc.. thats why he was late

just check the records before commenting .. Sachin has taken 182 innings to score 15 century while Virat has taken 106 . Even if we remove first 70 innings of Sachin where he batted at lower order still Virat has better records

I totally agree not to compare Sachin and Virat but if we go by numbers Virat is holding an Edge atleast in ODI .. he still needs to prove himself in Test

while you compare sachin's centuries with any other batsman do you consider his batting position?
at #6 or so before opening for first time after about 80 matches... and rest is history... kohli is a turning out to be a great 1-day player but no comparison to sachin...

Sachin started his career down the order and was a master blaster in the initial phases of his career. It was only after few years that he was asked to open the innings which he took

true, we should not compare sachin with kohli.. Sachin used to be always desperate for a century...and was playing like duck when around century... where as players like kohli, dhawan, sehwag...do not give a damm to century...even at 99 they hit 4s & 6s.

so only when it is sachin you woke up to the fact that for the first many odis he did not open the innings...and finally it dawns to you that it is indeed difficult to score centuries down the order...but i wonder why you people wake up only the concerned person is sachin...why dont you think of that about other players also?

well said. sachin was not getting that much chances like kohili got till his 70th innings.. thatgs the big point. and once he got opening position look his scores.. he was scoring like a bullet and he got so many centuries than kohili did
