KOHLI BEATS THE RECORD OF TENDULKAR
by Sundararaman knagarajan on Aug 01, 2013 07:33 PM  | Hide replies

How many matches were played by TENDULKAR before he reached 15 centuries and how many by KOHLI? and how many by GAYLE? The number of matches played in these days are far more when compared to a decade before.

In that terms also Kohli is far superior.. Kohli made that in 106 matches and Tendulkar done in approx 190 matches.

its just a matter of when these matches are played. I believe Tendulkar was in most competitive and trying conditions when Indian cricket was coming up. So hats off to master batsman. Kohli is in a stage where almost everyone is playing well (no fear of losing wickets).. so all that matters is how many matches everyone plays and get top slots.

Which position Sachin played in his early days? Was it possible to score those many 100s in that position in that quick time??

This is a case where there is a lot more to the data than what you can get at first look.

SR played many games lower down the order number 6/7 so its simply not fair to compare the two. Virat K is very good but he is not SR

Sachin hit his first century in 89th match
by Nilesh Madhavi on Aug 01, 2013 02:15 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin hit his first 100 in 89th match. Reason -- he used to bat in middle order. Virat is very good with his bat and long way to go ...

In middle order one get very less time to no time to score 100s. Also Sachin started playing where 180-225 used to be a winning score and top order used to eat most of the overs before HE bats..

same applies to other batsmen who bat down the order....they get less chance to score big...do you consider that when you compare their 100s with sachin's 100s..

Sachin's Next 25 centuries
by sujit sankhe on Jul 31, 2013 10:26 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin scored next 25 centuries faster than his 15 centuries..... Virat now has difficult task ahead. With burden of T-20 and test it will be difficult.
Sachin played most of his career in difficult conditions and off late cricket as a game become more batsmen friendly. So not worth comparing here. Even if compared wisely Virat has long long way to go.

there was a period when kohli and tendu played together.
who was better.
and dont know how come the conditionshas eased out only for kohli and not for tendu.
if onditions are better for batting now then why has been tendu struggling in hte last 2 years. just check the number of centuries scored by him.

Will the deceptive players from delhi such as Kohli and Dhawan play bigger role. We did pass on some batting strategy tips to delhi like we did for every big city but wrong people like kohli, gambhir and dhawan got hold of it. All this because delhi has web of punjus everywhere and the rest dont have much chances unlike Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkatta. Even Amit mishra the purabia had to take haryana route.

.India has capacity to produce lot more Tendulkars and gavaskars. I would like india to produce many basketball Le Bron James and Micheal Jordan as well !! in cricket, We have great legendary spinner like ragavan, chandrashekar and prasanna. In pace, we need micheal holding and malcom marshalls. We can do it. Not many people are gifted as tendulkar and gavaskar. The current crop of batsmen are not there where tendulkar was when he had young nerves. He could do the job on any foot. I am writing what people have commented elsewhere. )Tendulkar like gavaskar is gem at backfoot..not everyone is there at their level as such they need to better themselves in rest of aspects such as front foot. Now since SRT slows down..he need to focus on aspects he never had to consider before. To the openers. There will be occasion to time the ball well for the shots. If the batsmen watch closely we taught a strategy to delhi batting to push the attack away by wisely acting at front foot...wisely also means be wise with yorker..once the attack is pushed back...batsmen cannot be cage

continued..
...batsmen cannot be caged into back foot and they have time to play..swing and spin both need delay and rapid action when there is proper timing. ..so it seems Delhi batting is forgetting this(or doing deception on purpose) and so the rest. dont follow correct strategy. After all this front foot and backfoot skills comes wiseness with short pitch bballs..it takes some guts..timing and lot of ddiscretion to leave or act..

Too early to compare
by Teena Mehta on Jul 30, 2013 08:10 PM

I have heard different sections of the Media.... saying that Virat can break Sachin's record.... But I think that's too early to say so..... For reaching anywhere near Sachin's record.... One will have to play for 23-24 yrs. firstly.... Sachin was just 16yrs. old when he started.... Sachin was capable of playing at any number from Opening till no.7.... Virat hasnot been tested at any no. in the lower order.... no.5,6,7....
