whole world knows sachin played for records. He achieve all the records with BCCI help by never getting dropped from team. Any player who plays for 30-40 years at his own convenience knowing his place will be cemented will shatter all records.
All but one - a triple century.it requires a player of a different mental strength and talent to score a triple. Any one can score 3 hundreds in 3 matches - as long as he will never be dropped from team...but not a triple
Sachin,Lara,Ponting,Steave,Gavaskar,Dravid & Sir VIV Richards all are the Great batsmans and have different style & Technics. nobody can compare these batsman to anyone.But I think all together Sachin is the best & Greatest.
When you look at Sachin's career, what is mostly overlooked is the amount of tests he played, when he was at his peak -- 1994-2004. In the ten year period, he has played only 92 tests, averaging about 60. If you narrow it even further, from 1994-2000, when he was creating all his records in ODIs, he played only 45 tests, at an average of just 7 1/2 tests a year. Even Lara played 9 tests more than Sachin during this period. Compare this to any Aussie or English cricketer or even Indians from about 2002 onwards: Almost everyone has played an average of about 10 tests per year. So, in effect, Sachin lost about 20 - 25 tests when he was at his peak. Who knows how many runs he might have scored - how many centuries he might have made and how many matches he might have lost or won?

Pointing is the only player who has won 3 world cups as a captain and a player plus won test series in every place on earth... Which Sachin has never achieved..

During Ponting tenure as captain, Aus was at peak and unbeatable. Leave ponting, Had anybody in earth doesnt know playing cricket and undersatnd cricket been captain of Aus would have won matches with other 10 players in team. He denst have to contribute
We only in India are craze about such discussions.Why because we love cricket.We love cricket because of the style and elegance of the players within a tough competitions.Boycott,Border,Hayden,Gooch,Haynes,Shaeed Anwar,Miadad (who achieved highest at one point)etc were great players.But nobody wants to compare them.Simply because we do not like them or their charisma.People like ponting had to put into debates like this by the Indian journos. Now, both Lara and Tendlia are charismatic players,entertrainers with contrasting styles working in different situations.Lara being a left hander brings in more elegance and therefore more naturally liked by masses.In cricketing terms Tendlia has gone far ahead.he is also more consistent and team man.I would also put Ponting in the same category and no less. So let's touch the bottom line saying that The three are tripods of modern age batting. LOVELY LARA ,Powerful Ponting and Toughy Tendulker

Hi all ,This question looks like asking a child whether he loves his mother or father. Lara and Sachin has their own games match winning can not proves who is better to whom.
lara once gets in has scored big double , tripple and even four hundred (once). Sachin has not even scored a tripple century yet . But the class which Sachin has , and the vigour to tear apart any attack in the world is not seen in Lara .
The statement merely shows Ponting's desperation that he was not able to break his record which he was trying his best.Sachin or for that matter cannot be compared with any other legend in Cricket . Every one has some or other doings better than other ,that 's why they are legends.Sachin has several records while Lara has some records still to their names.Ponting has several tims done unservice to cricket by showing his arrogancy and still doing same thing by comparing Legends in Cricket.
How is that Lara has won more number of matches, as i can recall during Lara period WI was going through a real bad patch and was not even winning series or hardly any matches. if i am wrong in my statistics or quoted incorrectly please correct me
