Rahul Dravid
by Rajesh Venkatraman on Mar 29, 2012 08:44 AM

Nothing but change is permanent. This is the Philosophy of life things come and go but what remains are the good work that one does in the period.Rahul Drvaid has done immense good on the cricket field and will be always respected as one of India best batsmen in last 2 decades he played.Rahul statictics will reveal that he has scored better on foreign soil where the technique of Indian batsman has been a suspect barring this australia tour he had never failed overseas it is beacuse his and laxman's batting capability that India was always a strong challenge to the best australian side down under and this was the only team australia was wary about even in their days of peak domination.Rahul has retired as the right time as he proved once again that timing is important .Rahul will be rememebered as on the great Indian bastman in the present era and there will be no replacement for him.I salute on eof the technically best batsman of this era

100% agree with u....not only last 2 decade but all time greatest. He had all the quality to qualify being greatest, playing longer inning, can demolish any quality attack, playing equally great against off and leg spin, every shot is delighted to watch, most entertaining and his average only hampered because of less no of not out (only 6 in 131 test)....i dont know about bradman...but if u campare any other great every one have lacking in few quality,Ponting (shuffling against quality spin), sachin (unable to longer inning and under pressure), Richrds (not strong against spin)

Truth
Re: Re: Re: Lara

How can be most inconsistent when he scored fasted 10000 in terms of inning (sharing with Sachin), fastest 11000, and fastest 11993 (by far), he did not scored those runs in single inning. He came 1 year after Sachin and set benchmark, which Sachin broke it after 2 years of his retirement with 20 extra innings. Now tell me who is most consistent. Only one or 2 test series failed doesn’t mean he is inconsistent. He contributed 21% of inning total, only George Hadley and Don Bradman achieve this feat and fact that he played 131 test compared to Hadley (20 and bradmen 52). Sachin’s consistency is highlighted by media only. How many time Sachin crossed 400 runs in one series, and Lara only played one series (3 test) on Indian surface that is at early of his career, and remain average successful due to tremendous pressure of record holder. Batsman like yunis khan, macculaum, Williomson, D bravo, Adams can be successful then y not Lara..I m 101% sure he cud have played more on Indian track his average might be boomed up.

You can also interpret that as the most accomodative man for the Indian team which other players never exhibited.
