Even gully cricketers manage full tosses; that's school boy stuff
by Another Critic on Jan 29, 2012 03:32 AM

Sehwag use your brain when you face full tosses. And he is the captain of our cricket team.

5.1
Siddle to Sehwag, OUT, he strikes with his first ball, accepts an outstanding return catch and sends Sehwag on his way, nothing delivery, low full toss, Sehwag closes the face as he looks to go midwicket, the ball loops to Siddle's right off the leading edge, he leaps and holds on one-handed, note to Ishant Sharma, at times, you create your luck

19.1
Lyon to Sehwag, OUT, oh dear, Sehwag has given it away, danced down to the flighted full toss, and looked to lift with a closed face it on the leg side, big leading edge goes up vertically around short cover and is taken safely, Lyon cannot believe his luck.

by Nick dave on Jan 29, 2012 01:17 AM

Shameless explanation. You are playing in Australia in their soil....it took 4 match to think about technical issues........shame on you. Play cricket or hold your own wicket and balls tight a watch TV. You boys are the highly paid individuals in a country like India. You are just saying technical issue......I want your plane should crash just for only one Tech. issues. Layman's excuse.....why didn't you learned after England series....move your as... and legs properly....

WAT IS SURPRISING TO ME IS THAT EVN AFTR THEIR FLANNELS AND UNDIES R BARED IN THE FEILD THIS FELLAS SHOWS NO SHAME.

ITS HIGH TIME THESE OVERSTAYING BUDDAS INCLUDING TENDLYA AND THAT IRRESPONSIBLE CRACKBAT SEHWAG IS THROWN OUT. THESE BUGGERS PLAY IN TO THEIR 40'S WHN 20 YR OLDS R WARMING THE BENCHES

IT IS NOT THE DEFEAT BUT THE SHAMELESS MANNER IN WHICH THEY HAV GONE FROM NO 1 TO AZ'OLES IS THE MOST SHAMBOLIC PART.ITS A GREAT COMEDY THAT OUR WORST DEFEAT IN HISTORY HAS COME AFTER BECOMING NO1 IN TESTS AND 1 DAY.
IN RETROSPECT IT WOULD HAV BEEN BETTR HAV WE BEEN STATIC AT OUR OLD PLACE NO 6, BLAME IT ON GARY.

Here lies the real problem
by sonny gong on Jan 29, 2012 12:28 AM

There is no transparency in the BBCI. The followers of the game inclusive of the public, past players and journalists have no clue as to how BBCI goes about doing its business in preparing a team for a foreign tour. A foreign tour needs a lot of analytical planning and specific thinking towards the success of a tour. Has BCCI done its due diligence before sending a team? There are times when one will loose or win but to increase that chance of winning in the primary task of BCCI. It is not doing so efficiently. What has BCCI done to ensure that the team is prepared the right way or are they just shooting blindfold? Why is it that the common public is not made aware of such due diligiency if at all BCCI had conducted a full pre-test series analysis as a means preparation? We hear officials come on TV and media in justifying but it is sad that such a rich body as the BCCI and its hired men seem so naive and shallow in their statements and explanations. It is incorrect to blame players - who based on a global comparison are the best in the world for sure - for the players it is easy to show as the statistics prove it but the poor players are inequipped in justifying and are not trained in their logical defence. There should be a drastic change in the BCCI mamagement and qualified folks who can pinpoint needs of a tour and prepare teams accordingly should be given charge of a team i.e. not some past players who rely only on their sixth sense in determining the fate of a tour.

Team leadership including the coach and selectors need to change.
by Jay S on Jan 29, 2012 12:18 AM  | Hide replies

Cricket teams are just like any corporation. If the top management, coach, selection committee and captain think the same, the results will continue to be either good or bad. With changes in the playing conditions, they need to adapt in every department. In my opinion, the whole thing changed after they changed the coach. He either needs to have more power or go.

Correct. Also the fees and money being earned by cricketers need to looked at and structured.Too much money is as bad as too little.
There is no motivation to earn more if a person has for example played 10 tests and has earned 10 crores by way of fees, endorsements, etc. They become businessmen not sportmen.

Sehvag can never be a good captain.
by Jay S on Jan 29, 2012 12:12 AM

Sehvag should always remain free of any mental burden. He is free spirited and lack the ability to think. By making him the captain, we just reducing his strength as a player. India should do what Australia did. Keep one or two senior players and field new talent to groom them with the seniors.

Indian team lacked the heart.
by Jay S on Jan 29, 2012 12:07 AM

This team was down and out throughout the series. They needed a psychologist to get the negativity and passive attitude out of their mind. I think, Dhoni's so called cool attitude (or lack of communication) has caused the team to be okay with any thing, even if it is shameful series of losses. Need to give the captaincy to some one like Virat.
