the then so-called no.1 team ind who were merely content to win just 1 game against 10th ranked wi n after first test victory all fans were preying that rain shud wash out remaining tests of the series so that v wud come back(!) with 1-0 series win. n even ind team including its koolest (!!!) capt. didnt enforce victory while chasing merely 180 runs against wi. that was the reason that ind didnt deserve no.1 ranking n were bound to lose that spot sooner.
when he played an unnecessary number of extra tests (atleast 20 matches) taking no wickets, one wicket or two wickets per match (not innings) in pursuit of a non existent record (he was chasing a myth, not record - because Sir Richard Hadlee took his 434 wickets in 80 odd tests while the unashamed Kapil took over 130 tests, so it is neither a record nor a breaking of record).
Old players like Kapil and Sourav should refrain from talking about cricket, watch the young team of today do far better than they did in their days and relax at home.

Mr.Orient. You have a sick mind. Please never insult a cricketer like Kapil. So called legends like Sachin etc. grew up holding Kapil,Gavaskar's idols in their houses. They are real inspiration for cricketers ever. All these current day youth, never know how to play a real cricket. we have already seen youngsters performance in last 5 years abroad. Expcept Sachin, Dravid, laxman who performed better abroad? I am not blaming youngsters because they never had got a chance to face great face bolwers like Pollock, McGrath, Waqar, Akram etc. youngsters are undoubtedly great performers but only on sapless sub-continent pitches. Mind you

agreed with mohan. n youngsters who r performing in ausi against ausi bolers like brett lee n performing in paki agaisnt shoaib akhtar r ignored eg. parthiv patel.
If i am not mistaken, when Kapil Dev was the coach of India in 99-00 India lost 3-0 to Australia and 2-0 to South Africa in tests. India also lost Aiwa Cup, LG Cup, Coca-Cola cup, Asia Cup, ICC knock out and other such trophies/series.

man look at practicality.the thing is not many expected india to do well in 1999-00 when players like vijay bharadwaj was picked for australian tour.now the players r well settled at all leves and no doubt team should well in australia.look back in 2007-08 how well india has done under kumble with almost same set of batting heroes.(now zeroes). After done so well in 07-08 indians should do much better now.present loss is purely due to lack of attitude and that will hurt many.kapil is right.

I agree...There is no point feeling ashame when the players like vikram rathod, ashish kapoor, devang gandhi and such bunch of useless players playing for India. We had only one Tendulkar those days and a useless captain.Things are much changed and as clrearly mentioned the same team won test no 1 few months back

Guys, in that case blame Dhoni & the team for this flop show. Many people here question the role of Dunkin Doughnut Fletcher. If silly people like Rathod, Ashish Kapoor, Devang Gandhi lost 3-0 you find it OK. But people like Umesh Yadav, Ashwin, Kohli fails we have a big hue & cry......

adding more that time mcgrath and warne are at their peak form.now this australian bowlers r not that lethal either.they r all struggling to cement their place in their teams.

abs right. as coach he led ind to 3-0 whitewash. the famous series where bcci secretary lele had said the outcome before the series
Re: Re: Ashamed?

however, that time ind wasnt considered a good time. but now when v were so-called no.1 team (although v didnt deserve it) definitely lead us to shame coz v r arrogant no.1 team.

He is ashamed because INDIA has lost 7 test matches in a row. This has not happened atleast in the past 35 years. Period. Please do not criticize Kapil. Dhoni & Co., should be ashamed of this.
The bottomline is Indians have nver performed well in any series abroad. They are always local heros. Peiople will forget these zeros and praise tjhem as heros druing IPL. People should boycott all IPL MATCHES
Why was kapil not feeling ashamed when we lst 4-0 in 1991-92 series against australia..and the again to south africa who made the comeback in international cricket.. and again as a coach of indian cricket team in 1999 3-0 to australia nad jst one win only in tri series.. what kapil thinking at that time?????

abe nilesh in 1992 series india lost the first two tests, then they roared like lions almost winning the next two but lost due to some poor umpiring. remember there were no neutral umpires and no third umpire even runouts were decided by on field umpires
Re: Re: kapil ashamed of indian team
by Mohan Rao on Jan 22, 2012 02:57 AM
Absolutely right sharanu, I remeber still. I was in school at that time. India was on the verge of winning 2 times when a few bad umpiring decisions let India down. Kapil was strike bowler and also used to contribute a lot of runs after mid-innings. Kapil has right to comment on any one anytime because he has won the world cup for India NOT in INDIA fixed by BCCI but on foreign soil!!! Also he led India into semi-finals with (then) unimaginable one day score of 175 by a single batsman.
Re: Re: 1983
by Mohan Rao on Jan 22, 2012 03:06 AM
Spot on. I dont know when these kind of people who support youngsters will believe that Kapil won WC in 1983 on foreign soil but not in India. No team used to even dream that they can beat Windies in a major tournament final, which Kapil Dev's team has done. Back home all the losses then can be attributed to politics that split Indian team into South(Mumbai) and North Indian groups which subsequently emerged as rival groups. But there is no letting down. With in couple of years India was again in a stage where they were into semi-finals of 1987 WC. Compare that with Dhoni's position. Can be take at least to semi-finals in next WC? I doubt whether he will be in team by that time let alone loosng captaincy.
kapil is jelous of sachin and dravid because they have played more matches than him and he wanted these players for icl of subhash goel , since 2007 he never miss an single opportunity to criticise these guys it is his plan to take them away from indian team ie. bcci and in the icl camp
Dear Kapil Paaji, You feel ashamed after 3-0. Read the latest news. Aus preparing another green turf for adelaide to whitewash Ind. Maybe you want to commit suicide after seeing 4-0.
