by raja tripathy on Jan 19, 2012 12:56 AM

Playing ranji Type of Matches should be made only in Bouncing Pitch, then only Indian can win in Bouncing pitches like Australia & Newsland.

throw out tingulkar, dravid, laxman, zaheer and sehway, dhoni can
by rahul joya on Jan 19, 2012 12:54 AM

be a fielder instead of keeping. Make Gambhir or Kohli captain. Saha can keep. Start preparing team for world cup in 2015. Come on India and Indians think long term for once. It doesnt matter if we lose a lot of matches with youngsters but at least they will learn and improve. How will team India improve? More practice, more training, more communication with trainers and coaches, and improving tactics against teams and looking for weakness and strengths for both our team and opposing teams. Trust me with all this in mind we can surely. We need a plan for every series. Look at videos of oppossing bowlers and batsman. Sure sometimes things won't turn out the way they are expected. All bowlers should know that they should not get out cheaply otherwise they will be scrutinized. All batsman can bowl a few overs to change things around. Bold and wise steps but greed and worthless fat slobs have take over indian cricket management. Also anyone in national team will not take part in IPL. Also if you have fat slobs running BCCI than nothing matters. We will always perform this way. Champions win everywhere. Period.

Need to change hiring strategy for selectors and coaches
by FreeSpeech on Jan 19, 2012 12:49 AM

There is a strong need to pick meaningful selectors. I have no idea how you can pick Srikant for that job when he known for his irresponsible game. I am not a great fan of foreigners being picked for head coach jobs, I cannot believe their loyalty. All the Australian and English coaches we have hired in the past might be giving all the inside information to their national teams, and eventually hurting us.

Instant Cricket is definitely responsible
by sq kazmi on Jan 19, 2012 12:47 AM

The instant version of cricket is partly but surely responsible for the test debacles overseas.
The raesons are:
1. Instant version of cricket is basically a batsman's game. The pitches are designed to facilitate easy batting. On top of this the bowling is shackled 3 fold in terms of field restrictions, restricted number of overs a bowler can bowl and restrictions on the leangth and line a bowler can bowl. The whole mix creates conditions very much forgiving for the batsmen. This has caused complacency on the part of batsmen in that they don't feel the need to apply themselves to fight for every run. This also demoralises the bowlers and affects their willingness to go that extra mile to provide better performance. When it is given that a bowler can't do much, why try.

2. The limited number of overs played in the instant version of cricket help mask any technical flaws the batsmen have and bowlers are afraid to try new things becasue a single mistake can cause a significant penalty in say a 20-20 match. This inhibits the flair in bowling.

3. The test match is an entirely different ball game, when it comes to the test of character. The mentally tough invariably win through because there is amplke timke and opportunity to try out every trick in the book and only the fittest survive. A bowler who has become accustomed to bowl maximum ten overs (4 in 20-20) in a working day loses the stamina to bowl long spells with consistent accuracy and penetration.

WOW!!!
by Debo Mcnair on Jan 19, 2012 12:23 AM

We lost a test series in Australia and people are asking that IPL be abolished!!! A league that gives opportunities to so many INdian cricketers and employment to many others! Are we so vain that we value a sports victory against some outsiders over prosperity for some of our own?

PS: I have not watched even one game of IPL!!! But I understand its importance to our society!!!

Shame on india seniors
by Kungfu Panda on Jan 19, 2012 12:18 AM

The oldies in our cricket team are just like our politicians, they never retire and hang on to the chair till the last minute until they are kicked out from the team. Tendulkar for instance is no where as fit as he was 7 years back. He has to rest once every 3 matches to prevent injuring his aging muscles and bones. But still he wants to play for records and money. It is disgusting. There is a lot of young talent in India who are waiting for national level exposure so that they can take India to the next decade and level. But the seniors won't retire gracefully. They have developed powerful contacts and associations owing to their long tenure and celibrity status. In fact some of the selectors are their friends and coaches. So they don't have any fear and continue to play while destroying India's Cricket. Even Ravi Shastri and Gawaskar are so greedy for money that they don't miss on commenting in a single match. They are paid millions for their job and have earned millions already but still they want more. Compare with Australian cricketers where the player is kicked out based on performance and his age irrespective of their celibrity status. This is the reason why India will never be a great team like Australia
