Grim reality

As much as I am a fan of Dravid & Lax, it is time for them to retire one by one. Let me not talk about the hyped player since Rediff moderator is anenemy to anyone who writes the truth.
With only overseas taken to consideration from the Eng series:
Laxman has an avg of 20.3, the hyped one has an avg of 37.3 & Dravid has an avg of 44.9

It would be unfair to call Laxman useless since we have to thank him for some of the greatest victories of Indian test cricket. But an avg of 20.3 in 14 innings is by no means justice to his caliber. So, in all probability he will be the first one to step down in the senior category.

Next would be Dravid (the cricketer I admire the most). Age has caught up with him, and while cracking the whip on seniors, he will surely be chased out by TughlaqsofBCCI. Before that, it is wise that he announce his retirement.

Finally to the hyped one, he is always "sweet16", always passionate for runs and has Pawar & others who are afraid of even criticizing him if he commits the gravest mistakes. So, it would be unfair on our parts to expect him to retire!!

Frankly, it is better to lose badly with juniors like Kohli/Raina/Jadeja than lose badly with the seniors who have 100 centuries between them. Their days are simply over!

Yes, I agree that they are an insult to test cricket. But they have age as an advantage as against these above players.

Is the little master getting younger?!

Why is he not a part of the "unpleasant task of phasing out their aging stalwarts"?!

Abhilash, with the juniors we may fail to score 200 also. With the seniors we may score 300! What difference does it make if we lose the match with 200 or 300 runs on board? The seniors in the team ARE expected to put up a better show. Last 14 innings, these 3 have an avg of 34.1 combined!! In what way have they benefited?
It is better to lose with the likes of Rainas/Kohlis & Sharmas than seniors who fail so miserably.

IPL is not for current playing Players
by ramakanth k on Jan 16, 2012 11:09 PM

dont treat winning a cricket match is the greatest thing on the earth and losing is worst thing.

as great azhar used to say after losing every match " winning and losing are part of match . better team will win"

Ban IPL every thing will set right.

put a condition " IPL is not for current international crickters who is playing in the current team" so that persons who dont get chance in national team will earn some money and those fellows who is getting hefty monet thru ADV and Contracts will concentrate on cricket

by caeser b on Jan 16, 2012 11:01 PM

Hope a new team under a new leadership rises from these Ashes . A fearless team, a team which is ready to take bouncers on their chests, a team which will give a punch in return for a punch, a team which would fight till the end , a team which would remain humble when victorious and gracious in defeat and a team where thers no place for bunnies like the ones above

the ones I have mentioned played this game w/o caring for records....
they r the ones who will be respected forever.
For ex: curtly ambrose retired when he was at his peak and had a bowling avg of 20...

Do u think any shameless indian cricketer would have retired during such a time.
So if u mention the name of Curtly Ambrose it evokes respect and awe unlike indian players including ur tendulkar....

Also ambrose during his hey day was a terr0r on the field and just ask the batsmen of his era what thoughts were going on in their minds when they had to face this gentle giant...
batsmen will tell u tales...

has any indian bowler till date been of that standard. NO.
Can India ever produce one Curtly Ambrose.. Answer is a resounding NO...

India is saying Zaheer is their spearhead.. I ask what is Zaheer when compared to someone like Ambrose or Walsh... He is not even 1 percent of these stalwarts..

Laxman should not be the only on to RETIRE
by Chat India on Jan 16, 2012 10:40 PM  | Hide replies

For the good fortune of Indian Test Cricket, I would pressurize all the following people to retire. If BCCI have guts let them come openly, but not naming only Laxman.
1) Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar
2) Rahul Dravid
3) VVS Laxman
4) Sehwag
5) MS Dhoni
6) Zaheer Khan
7) Gautam Gambhir
