Asking Sachin to retire from Cricket is like asking Bruce Lee
by Talisman on Feb 25, 2012 09:36 PM

Will you ask Bruce Lee to retire from Kung Fu? Asking Sachin to retire from cricket which is his life is like that.

As Indians we have taken away his privacy for his entire life time. Now, who are these silly pundits asking his to retire?

The truth is .....
by Ravindra Hegde on Feb 25, 2012 09:20 PM  | Hide replies

he is not playing for a while and no one has the courage to drop him. We are a nation obsessed with personalities. Rather than winning a game we cheer for individuals. This is the harsh truth. We dream about the past and think SRT will reporduce the magic every time he is on field. The media goes viral each time he scores and forgets about the contributin of other players. It is very sad state of the collective Indian mindset.

Is winning World cup not proof? WE won the WCup riding on Sachin's back about six months back. Did you forget that, Mr. Hegde?

Get your facts right, Mr. Hegde.

Jones, dont teach Indians
by juhi on Feb 25, 2012 09:17 PM  | Hide replies

These Australians shouldn’t teach Indian selectors what they need to do and must stop mingling in selection committee. Australian’s simply jealous of Indian’s record and especially when they are near to make new one. Whoever making a negative debate over Sachin’s performance they either jealous as he is gonna make another record or fear of Sachin’s image. Anyway, its only Sachin’s decision what he need to do about his retirement as and when he feel to do so. Rest keep shut their mouth. This chap is talking about money involved in cricket and players are plying for money, are these Australian’s playing all their life for Charity? Dont teach Indians.

well said. We will not allow any one from austrailia, pak or any other country to criticize our players or selectors. If they tell something good it is fine otherwise we will shut their mouth for any kind of criticism. Sachin is wonderful player, for retirement we must leave it to him. Fair enough we need young players in the team and must be given the chance for youngers. But a player like sachin forcing him to retire is unjustified.

Kangaroo's unwanted analysis!
by Neetiman Kumar on Feb 25, 2012 09:08 PM  | Hide replies

That is a poor comment. Punter had to go, because Aussies consistently produce players like Forrest, Christian, Wade, Pattinson etc. Is that the case with the Indian team? Sachin would have gone out automatically, if any of the new players had the consistency to challenge his position.

The unfortunate truth is that the others in the team are worse players than Sachin. If you want to drop Sachin, then Sehwag, Gambhir, Raina et al should also follow suit.

That is the real problem for the selectors. Ant not the lack of courage. There is simply no replacement for this great player, at least for the present!

If you have time, please see the SMH site to read the article. In the end, the fellow himself says even he considered a comeback to cricket, seeing the average players (and of course, the dolars!). But to our luck, there were probably no takers for this buffoon!

Neetiman, i agree that our young players not doing well.
but the topic is not that
if we give chance to young players, they have time and future, but sachin almost there, no time or future (nor should anything left for him to proove, he done everything).
so it is better he leave the short form
better for him as well as to team
isnt it?

No, ideally those young men should perform and blast the old horses out of the team. That is not happening. True, Sachin is having one or two series in poor form, but he was still the second-best run scorer for India in the World Cup. You saw the way these so-called young men lost the plot in the game against SA and England, when Sachin got out.

I am not saying that he should continue to play. But at least leave that issue to his or selectors' choice. No one else need bother, especially these horrible Kangaroos!

Looking over the Barrel
by SUBROTO RAY on Feb 25, 2012 08:57 PM  | Hide replies

There are enough jobs in the hands of selectors other than calling for retirement of Sachin which is a non issue. The team should get rid of sehwag soonest possible as he is not only performing but creating dissension in the team. Play Manoj Tiwari in his place bring back Rohit and Zaheer Khan dropping Vinay Kumar and Umesh Jadav. Also play Rahul Sharma or Praveen Kumar in place of Ashwin who is a plain flop in these conditions. No point in asking for replacing Dhoni who is emerging out as a hero fighting out valiantly in a losing cause or Suresh Raina who is the most electrifying player on the field. Let's get this right India's batting is a big let down and this is clearly seen from their negative run rate average, getting bowled out within 50 overs and with a meagre score in most matches. Hence it's necessary that India play both Manoj Tiwari and Rohit sarma hoping one of the youngsters to come out with a good performance and rescue India from a seemingly hopeless situation.

He is also like old politician who is not interested to retire.
by N Rao on Feb 25, 2012 08:57 PM

He is also like old politicians in India who is not ready to retire till they die.

What is he expecting still from the team after playing 25 yrs in international cricket, after winning world cup and achieved most of his personal records till he is not paving the way for youngsters. He should be kicked out, he need to have that treatment ohterwise he is not ready to go.

Still he tells he is not thinking about retirement in internal cricket. He is now 40 yrs exactly, then when did he think about it, whter it in 60 years?

Why Age matter
by king on Feb 25, 2012 08:55 PM  | Hide replies

Australia rule cricket because they did not give importance to age limit they made performance their criteria for selection most Aussie players are in their mid twenty or early thirty at their debut match so they are more capable to perform under tight situations and their game shows this and see india, pakistan, srilanka they gave so much importance to age factor irfan pathan was included in team at 19 he played for 3/4 years and look at him now he was suppose to be next wasim akram he is not even as fast as anil kumble, if ifran had been handle well and included in team at 24/25 of his age he might have perform for next 5 years instead of struggling to be in team

If you are really a internal sports following person then you can understand why age is matter. Australians, South Africans and english people are they born Athlets and their body and all supoort them to do the feets which were required for fielding even at the age of 40. But South Asians, mostly Indian and Pakistanis are not athlets and they are energetic and fit only in young age, and once if they cross 50 you can see them like uncles not able to run, bend, and throw the ball properly.
