Sachin, plz ignore rubbish media, all jr & sr discussions. If juniors are so classy, why they were thrown in 2 20-20 WC first stage. They even not beaten any worldclass team in 2 worldcups...so everything in media going to just gain TRP, more hits on net.we salute u , ur deication..no contraversy..gr8!! Just one bad series will not finish u...if by go same rule of if someone fails 3-4 match ,he thrown out, then 905 team will be thrown out.

..if by go same rule of if someone fails 3-4 match ,he thrown out, then 95% team will be thrown out after every 3 month.(Sachin just played 4 ODI after WC-11).

that's exactly the point, Alex. He had stopped playing ODIs. Why should he now stage a comeback? He has played very few ODIs in the last 2 years as he wanted to preserve his body for the WC 2011. He did well and we won the WC. Now what's the point in playing ODIs blocking a youngster's career? If a player misses matches for a long time, he has to earn his place back. But usually for stars in India, they just come back to the team as their right. But that doesn't mean that one can disregard his slump in form for 5 matches now. It's not just that...you can see the slump since the Perth Test. Same happened to Ponting. I am not saying that we need to drop Sachin like Ponting but seriously he has to make a call. He's not young and sooner than later his body is going to give away. There's no point in being overly emotional or sentimental about his place. He has to retire today or tomorrow. But timing it well is within his control.
If he retires today, people will have more respect for him. He can play one more series of tests and retire on home soil. That would also give him an opportunity to score a 100th 100. But regardless he should go. He's above records. If he scores a 100 in the next 2 matches, I won't be surprised if he's tempted to play more ODIs thinking that he's back to form.

He never stopped playing ODIs. He skipped the ODIs which were hosted in Asian countries or were played opposite a minnow. His place was used to find a youngster or try a youngster. Any youngster at present is good at Asian Pitches. So there is not much risk for Team.

Before you people started to ask his head for youngsters, he was already started to skip the non risky ODIs to give a place for youngsters to play and gain confidence by winning matches with favorable conditions.

As like you people says, If he is really obsessed with his 100th 100 (I am not saying, he dont want or not looking for that feet ), he might not have skipped the ODIs vs bangladesh and England. And also you people were now busy to find any new reasons to defame (sorry I can't say " criticize ", bcoz criticism had 2 sides but you people have only 1 side always ) him .

Who knows, Sachin might be want his 100th 100 vs a strong team, not with a minnow.

have been following sachin
by veerapuram dharan on Feb 24, 2012 09:46 AM

when sachin made his debut, tehre was no live coverage in TV then..it was aired in radio and though it didnt evince much interest to hear the live action, i chose to wait until the next day to rush through the sports column of the hindu to check the score. my immediate attention to the scoreboard was not on sachin, but on srikkanth and kapil..because they were the only two entertainers left in the indian team then..but, both of them failed and by the end of teh series, the unexpected hero was sanjay manjrekar with his elegant double ton..

somehow, when kapil and chika retired, i thought the entertainment is lost..because, till 1994, sachin was only a middle order batsman, who could score 30s and 40s and here and there score a 50. once he was promoted to open, teh rest is history..i pinch myself that this guy is still playing since those golden 80s and i am not the same, my family is not the same, but this chap is still the same, his hunger is still there..but only thing is, if his body and age can coordinate with his mind???

Give good palyers Opportunity

How Mr Vengsarkar can come to the conclusion that there isno body to replace SRT. Good players will come only if given chance. We have habit of idolising cricketers. Just look at Australia they have sacked an equally great player like Ponting. However great a palyer may be he is not above game and country. If given enough opportunity Players like S. Badrinath, Pujara should have become regulars in our team. With all due regards to what SRT has achieved, it is really time to retire gracefully.

Very true! The problem is with our star culture where we want a player to go on for ever. The same thing was siad when gavaskar and vishwanath were playing and then came kapil and sachin. So we would find good players if proper selection is made and good ones encouraged.

heavy dose of cricket to be blamed
by veerapuram dharan on Feb 24, 2012 09:21 AM

a WC win is a huge achievement in itself. it should have taken atleast a couple of months rest after the win so that the players can savour it..instead, this selfish BCCI had scheduled an inconsequential WI tour before the eng tour and before the aus tour as well...i wish rajiv shukla, pawar, srinivasan etc given public thrashing..

Gavaskar should be asked 2 come out of retirement. Gavaskar will surely manage atleast 1 fifty every 4 - 5 match
